Anxiously awaiting :)

Not that I've seen.

I'd love to see photos from Sunday night, especially when Shane was holding onto his mic stand, not realizing there was no mic. I think he later channeled Roger Daltry. Absolutely brilliant.

I hadn't seen the Pogues live since Berkeley in '89, with no Shane. The gear was all held up in customs, so they played on rented gear. The accordian showed up during the second or third song, and they had the wrong strap, so a roadie had to attach it with gaffer's tape...and they blew the house down!

Sunday was my first show with Shane, so it was especially nice. :D

i have a recording of that show! you're right, it's pretty damn good stuff. and your description rings a bell, from the comments section of the tracker where i got it, so i suspect you have it too.

The look on Bob Dylan's face was priceless. Not only have these guys left their lead singer behind, now they don't even have any instruments to play! I suppose we were fortunate to be playing to a Dylan-friendly crowd, long since accustomed to expecting the unexpected.

At least they didn't boo you, like they used to do Dylan (and later did Sinead). For an allegedly open-minded bunch, they proven quite ignorant and closed-minded at times.

LIVE SHOWS

Post Thu Oct 25, 2007 8:03 pm

Saw the San Francisco show on Sunday night with my husband and daughter. We had so much fun!! We were right at the front since I'm short. Think we talked to DzM, camera in hand. Missed Phil, hope you're doing okay.

The mic that Shane missed had been knocked down by a thrown thing when he wasn't looking.

I remember talking to you both. Over on stage right, in front of Terry and The Other James, right? Down from Vancouver.

Glad you had a great show!

Thanks

Downtown has three Irish Pubs. The Field on 5th Ave, The Dublin Sq on 4th Ave and a new one called Stout...which is the nearest to 4th and B. Hard to know which one will have the best craic.

We have a large group going to Stout run by 2 great guys, one from Co. Kerry and the other from Vancouver, Mark and Dave. They are letting me take over the music system! hahahahaha

I go to The Ould Sod too but the boys at Stout deserve your patronage as well. Its at 1125 6th Ave. Straight across the street from the wretched HOB box office and a mere 2 block walk to 4th & B. C'mon down, you'll love the place and you won't waste time & $ on a cab.

Amen!! I have found the so called counter culture in America to be very conformist. If you don't agree with their narrow view on life, then your the one who is not open minded. It's a joke how they are always railing on about other's dogma, when they have more rules and principles than even the religious. I like to call it covert, non-institutional dogma. They are not free thinkers- they all believe the same thing. Their minds are prisoners to the group...On another note-Modern Times is the most overrated record of all time. Rolling Stone should be forced to do years of penance for their 5 star rating. Like Kiss, Dylan is laughing all the way to the bank.

What's really funny (or sad) is that probably all of those boeo-ers of the old days are still huge fans of the electric Dylan today.

On an even less west-coast Pogues tour related subject, Band drummer Levon Helm, who quit playing with Dylan from too much booing, later re-joining the others at Big Pink, is about to release his first solo album since about the same time the Pogues played their first show. I've heard a pre-release and it's great, old timey without being old, and features Larry Campbell (ex of Dylan's band, actually) co-producing with Levon's daughter, Amy, of Ollabelle fame. If you like that sort of thing, just go buy it, you won't be dissapointed.

Yeah, once they realized the community stamped it's approval, they had to conform. Can't be an individual and go against the almighty group. That would go against the unspoken American baby boomer code.....By the way, I love Larry Campell. Dylan's band was smokin when he and Charlie Sexton were rocking out. I saw them live six times during that era, and they were amazing. I read a nice interview in some magazine yesterday with Levon Helm. I'd love to go to one his intimate shows he's playing in the barn in upstate NY...Those "opened minded " morons booed Sinead, because she rocked the boat and got pissed on SNL. What a bunch of fakes. Holden Caulfield must have rolled over in his grave.
