I hadn't seen the Pogues live since Berkeley in '89, with no Shane. The gear was all held up in customs, so they played on rented gear. The accordian showed up during the second or third song, and they had the wrong strap, so a roadie had to attach it with gaffer's tape...and they blew the house down!

i have a recording of that show! you're right, it's pretty damn good stuff. and your description rings a bell, from the comments section of the tracker where i got it, so i suspect you have it too.

Thanks
Downtown has three Irish Pubs. The Field on 5th Ave, The Dublin Sq on 4th Ave and a new one called Stout...which is the nearest to 4th and B. Hard to know which one will have the best craic.

At least they didn't boo you, like they used to do Dylan (and later did Sinead). For an allegedly open-minded bunch, they proven quite ignorant and closed-minded at times.

What's really funny (or sad) is that probably all of those boeo-ers of the old days are still huge fans of the electric Dylan today.
On an even less west-coast Pogues tour related subject, Band drummer Levon Helm, who quit playing with Dylan from too much booing, later re-joining the others at Big Pink, is about to release his first solo album since about the same time the Pogues played their first show. I've heard a pre-release and it's great, old timey without being old, and features Larry Campbell (ex of Dylan's band, actually) co-producing with Levon's daughter, Amy, of Ollabelle fame. If you like that sort of thing, just go buy it, you won't be dissapointed.
