The pattern for the past couple years has been East Coast in the spring and West coast in the fall. This year, the East Coast tour came all the way inland to hit Chicago. And no, I don't mean to say there was a royal rumble between The Pogue's crew and that of a marginal soft rock band...

If the band chooses to continue this routine then you should have your wish fulfilled next spring with multiple shows in NYC. But any assumptions should be strictly avoided. They may fool us all and tour the fly-over states or not tour at all. Just keep checking these forums.

I never got to see the Beatles but there is still hope for the Pogues. Please come to Washington, D.C. in winter 2007!

Hi Philip Hope the band can play Portland, Oregon, home to a great music scene and the microbrewery capital of the USA The Decemberists, Kevin Burke , Gus Van Sant and more recently Johnny Marr all live here. Check out a local Pogues tribute band KMRIA on the web. Shane and the Popes played to sold out shows here a couple of times and Terry Woods and other musicians played at Kells, one of the major Irish pubs on the West coast for the St Patricks Day weekend a few years ago. Recent UK bands to play sold out shows in Portland are Keane. Snow Patrol and a great show by Madness a year or so ago. Give Portland a chance. Based on the KMRIA shows, there are a lot of Pogue fans here. Email me back if you need some contacts here. By the way ,say hello to Jem for me. I knew him at Keele University years ago. Oregon sure does seem to be a Pogues stronghold. I went to a conference in Bend this weekend and sat next to a guy sporting a kelly green Pogues boxer t-shirt.

From what I understand from Philip's previous posts, the cities visited have more to do with whether there are promoters there that are willing to offer the money necessary to make it worth the band's while to visit (covering the high costs of overhead, etc.) -- and not necessarily a measure of any given city's fan base. So if any Portlander's know any promoters out there who might be willing to make a good investment, get on their case! I suspect they would turn a handsome profit.

Talk to Mike Thrasher at http://www.mikethrasherpresents.com and he might be willing to get something going in Portland. The people at Monqui would probably be good to talk to as well.

The Pogues could sell out two nights in Portland without any problem whatsoever.

Dude. Dude. I'm kind of light-headed with excitement at the thought of the Pogues in Portland, though I wouldn't be able to make it (stupid college getting in the way). I second the Monqui suggestion, but I don't know what venue would be right in Ptown. Maybe Theater of the Clouds or whatever they call it at Memorial Coliseum? Anywhere else would sell out *ridiculously* quickly.

Hey Portland folks - any word on a Sweaty Nipples reunion? I've never lived in the area so I only 'discovered' them after they split and I've heard their live shows were legendary. They're on my shortlist of bands I'd buy a plane ticket to see. (Flown to see the Pogues three times in 16 months, damn these flyover states!)

Portland, Fucking Oregon.
I would be over the fucking moon, if you guys played here!
I know Mike Thrasher, and would be more than happy to contact him (Or anyone else) to set up a gig for Portland if The Pogues are interested. If needed PM me. I will do EVERYTHING it takes to get this rolling!
