I emailed the organisers as I was a bit worried there had been no updates on the site, and fair play they gave a good response, but the site still doesnt seem to have been updated.
Hi,

Yes it is happening, but unfortunately as the weather has had a drastic effect on all outdoor event ticket sales we have held back on marketing to see what this month brings, the plan is to really push it in August with the hope that the weather does get better. As a new event it is more difficult and this is a real worry to my investors. If you are planning on investing £350,000 into an event, then you need to know it will at least break even.

The most common question we get asked when we book tickets is about the weather and when you see in the news people are flooded out of their towns and villages the last thing anyone thinks about is sitting in a field with the prospect of it is pouring down with rain. Normally we would just ride through this as we have done the last couple of years on events with Status Quo & Tony Christie etc., but this is the worst rain on record.

This has been in the planning for 2 years and I intend to see it through, but I am also conscious of the implications and cost. I will also get the team to update the site today as I understand your concerns, but should the worst happen then everyone will be fully reimbursed, but it is not what I am expecting to do as it will happen and be a fantastic event.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards

Re Pougues in Lichfield, is this event actually happening? There is no update on celticroots.tv, which is a real worry.

Thanks

Is there any time frame for when the pogues will be on stage. Ticketmaster says 14:00. I need to know so I can book flights back to Ireland. Any ideas???
I love it when a plan comes together.

I would be amazed if they came on that early.

14.00 would be when the gig starts, ie support groups (presume there is a few) can't see the Pogues being on until 19.00 at least! I could be wrong though.

Does anyone know when the gig's supposed to finish? The organisers are being very slow at getting any info out. And where's the publicity?
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

If you check my previous post the promoters promised to update the site that day, but there is no further info on it

Yeah, thanks for posting the info you got from them, BirminghamCelt. I'd noticed they'd failed to update their site...

Still no update, and with the last three days of sunshine I was finally ready to go and buy tickets. Not that any other bands appearing will make a difference to me, but nothing confirmed but the headliners makes the organisation look a bit more dodgy than I'd like.

Only just checked the "Attitude is Everything" site on your signature, firehazard, good work!

Cheers, Christine. :)

I've got the same feeling as you about this gig at the moment. I'd like to see a bit more info, or at least a bit more evidence of reasonable organisation, before I commit to ticket-buying and travel plans.

Bit of a catch 22 Firehazard. If the tickets don't sell then the gig might not happen. The organisers seem confident enough based on past experience and the rain can't go on forever(it's lovely up north!). looks like it will be the only chance to see the lads over here this year. it's gonna happen.

Yeah, I know. A new festival (which looked as if it had a lot more organisation behind it than this one, and a full line-up long announced) which was lined up for the weekend before not too far away has been cancelled due to low ticket sales.

I know that a few people from round here, having been put off by that experience, won't be buying tickets or making arrangements for Celtic Roots till there's a bit more evidence that it's actually happening, and the organisers have put out a bit more info/publicity. Rightly or wrongly.

I am also starting to have doubts on if the gig is going to happen.
The concert is only around five weeks away and no supports acts have been named so the organisers / promoters need to get their arses into gear pretty sharpish.
I had a mix up with ordering tickets when they went on sale (admittedly not entirely the promoters fault) when I contacted the promoter I received a snotty e-mail back promising that they would sort my ticket out the following week as yet I have had no further response from them.
I will not attempt to buy a ticket now but will hopefully be able to pay on the day if my original ticket does not materialize (as any one actually received a ticket for the gig?).
Fingers crossed the concert will happen because it looks like the only change to see The Pogues this year.

Check Spider's post on this board. Says the fest is cancelled.
