Thanks (again) to the Pogues

Post Sun Mar 18, 2007 1:51 pm

Just wanted to thank y'all for making another go of it on the East Coast. I am from Boston and have become quite spoiled with all these Pogues shows virtually in my backyard. I must say that the two Avalon shows were among the best shows I have ever attended by any band ever. General admission is where it's at.

Should you all see fit to grace Boston again in the future, I will surely be there.

And to Phillip (and the rest of the boys who may post here on occasion,) thanks for your time and energy - it's a rare thing to have someone in a band you love so much so accesible to answer all the questions you may have. It is appreciated. Also Phillip, my family thanks you for your work on behalf of my little boys - it's something that will be special for them for years to come...

If it's meant to be, we shall see you again.
Come visit my two new Pogues fans, twin boys Shane & Dylan and follow them from birth, through the ICU and home: http://grierboys.blogspot.com/

I was actually going to do something like this but apparently was beaten to the punch. Thanks to the band so very much this was my first time seeing the Pogues(as well as my second, third and forth) and I can't imagine a better experience.

Wonderful times

Post Sun Mar 18, 2007 10:22 pm

Ah God, I'd go back again tonight and be crushed and battered and trodden on, and leave the Roseland covered in flung beer and the sweat of strangers, just to hear you guys again. Thank you so much for even better shows than the Nokia last year -- thank you to Philip for his kindness in writing here to let us all know what was going on -- thanks to Shane for singing from that chair! -- just thanks, thanks to you all. And now, with Rum, Sodomy & the Lash (bought in Sligo decades ago & in another lifetime) playing in the background, I'll set to all the work I didn't do last week because I was too distracted with all the excitement of hearing you to accomplish a single bloody thing.
Safe travels home to all -- and please come back soon!!

Thanks for the shows, they will never be forgotten. Thanks, to Philip , for taking the time on here to interact with intelligence, wit and at more than a few moments (with me, also), patience. Keep safe and , if fate and time allows, please visit us again.
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

I'm a long time fan from the eighties. I never expected to see the band reformed. I'm so glad I had a chance to catch the Orpheum show. I'll rmember it for many years. I'm planning on going again if they can make it back to Boston sometime.

I would also like to say thanks to the band. Last fridays show was really something! Starting with the bus ride we had to and from in that awful mess. Our bus driver, her name was Peanut, was the Queen of the road. Then I don't think I've ever seen a tighter band in all my life. Saw them last year in a.c., they were great, but better this year. So, thanks again for a great show and i can't wait till next time!

Indeed, many thank you's are in order. I've been holding off on posting in this thread because I can't find the words to properly thank the band for the gift they have given us. Frankly, I've been searching for the words since last year in Atlantic City. I suppose a simple "thank you" will do.

I want to hear more about that bus ride!! I was telling my family about your plans, as we were driving through the snow and ice to the show. How much did they charge you for parking??

I also want to say thanks. I have waited 20 years to see the Pogues. My wife & I were in Boston and caught the Friday show. It was Magic! At my age magic is very rare. Thank you from my heart.

Couldn't agree with Corey on these points any more. Thanks to all, especially Phillip.
Hope to see you again in the near future...(after the last two tours, my wife and I are starting to consider a trek over to Ireland to see a show...if possible).

The bus ride down was Great. All met at the pub for pints and then coolers full of beer for the ride. We had one guy who had seen the post on here and came along with us. Talked about past pogues shows with him for a while. The ride home was a drunken singalong. Mostly sea shanty's we've been learning lately as a few of us play together on occasion. Too much whiskey before and during "fiesta" to remember much more. The bus driver parked a few blocks away and we called her when the show was over and she came and got us. Couldn't have asked for a better night.
