With the storm in NY our flight was cancelled and all other flights tomorrow are sold out!! I'm just gutted.

Have you checked for flights from Vancouver? With the problem at the NY end, that might not help. Could be worth checking, though...

good luck!

No Fairytale here

Post Fri Mar 16, 2007 4:50 pm

Hello all -- well the weather in NY is appalling today, not so much sleet as balls of ice bouncing everywhere. Best way to travel up from Philly, or from anywhere in the northeast/midAtlantic -- and it's still up and running, and will remain so -- is Amtrak. If flights/cars are failing you, train in if you can. Safe as houses. And it's all supposed to stop by early tomorrow morning. They're talking about deep snow but it's not looking that way now at all, just messy and sloppy and slushy. Like trying to walk in margaritas.
Good luck everyone and see you at the parade!

I think I have convinced a friend to drive with me from North Carolina to NY tomorrow (then back on Sunday) to see the show. how much deep snow are they talking about? Looks like the weather will be okay for the drive but if the roads are covered that'll be a different story. It's over 500 miles each way so want to be sure I can make it.

Grounded by the snow and can't get a flight out of Houston until Sunday.

Oh well, good luck with the remaining snow and see you next tour.

Stuck in the mountains of PA, desperately hoping that the roads will be cleared by tomorrow afternoon so we can make it to NYC for teh St. Patrick's Day show.

Somebody please tell me there will be more east coast tours. If I miss this and don't get another chance to see the Pogues I will cry. A lot.

St. Patrick's Day

Post Sat Mar 17, 2007 1:04 pm

Dear all,
There's about 7 inches of slush and ice all over New York, and the puddles at every street corner are bottomless, but the streets, and sidewalks, are pretty clear. Trains and subways are more crowded than rush hour -- but they're the best way to get around. So boots, and hats (it's windy), and the parade starts at 11!
If you need something to eat before the show and are sick of being outside in the cold, try Serafina on the corner of 55th & Broadway. Just around the corner from the Roseland, open all afternoon, super pizza and pasta to fill you up, and really nice to sit down for a bit in a pretty place.
Safe travels in and see you all tonight -- can't wait for the show.

Thanks for the reminder Annie. I'll be sure to wear my gortex boots, as I plan to walk from the train station. Will buy a hat along the way at the place Philip recommended, I think. :)
What kind of fuckery is this?

Alas, I've got 2 FEET of snow and ice to get through. If I can make it out in the next 4 hours I'll be able to catch a train into the city, but it's not looking good.

Stranded in Seattle

Post Sat Mar 17, 2007 3:39 pm

I can't believe I'm missing everything. But at least we're still making a trip of it and flying in Sunday. If I could give my tickets to someone in need I would.

Happy St. Patricks Day!!
