Wow...just left the Philly show. Shane was wheelchair-bound but lively and coherent. As usual, this is the best band on earth. I saw them in the 80's and the 90's...and this show was as grand as any. A special thanks to Mr. Chevron for taking the time to write to fans like us. It's very much appreciated. The usual rousing rendition of 'Thousands Are Sailing' might just have made the night. Thanks again guys and I hope to see you next year. The tour shirts were great but kinda pricey. I don't think I've EVER spent $300 for a show and shirts. Worth it..............and I'd do it again. COME BACK TO PHILLY!!!

Damn! Couldn't make it!

Well, I spent the entire night with a frownie face look at my unused tickets because I couldn't get out of my unplowed neighborhood! So sad!
Could I send in my two unused tickets in exchange for a keychain or something?

Fortunately, I saw the Pogues in '96 at the Troc during the Pogue Mahone Tour (Still have my backstage pass from the event) and Shane at the E-Factory with the Popes, but never the two together. Alas!

Maybe I'll try again next year? What do you say boys?

Have a great time at the show tonight, if it's anything like as good as last week's Saturday at the Avalon in Boston-- you're in for a treat. First time I ever saw the Pogues at the Mayflower in Plymouth back in 87 Shane had a broken leg and was on crutches, now he's in a wheelchair and dressed like a cross between Flavor Flav and a Mexican Sommellier(?)-- that's progress for ya.
Happy St. Patrick's to y'all

I'm not starting the four hour trip until I know for sure!

We do not expect to be in Philly until about 5 pm. We're driving, not landing. Me, I'm about to order lunch.

Here's one for ya, who's driving? :P

wow, just waking up and relishing a fantastic performance by the Pogues last night, it took forever to get there from Doylestown, but thanks to our driver Anne from Tuam and the train from Warminster, we made it with moments to spare, had to run almost a mile in the freezing rain coz there were no stinking cabs to be found anywhere, two friends chickened out so we had two tix to spare, and we were able to give them to Ambrose from Dungannon, sure does make ya feel good
Shane was in fine form, but the band were incredible, and the fans did 'em proud
the setlist was great, wish i could have got one but those bastard bouncers kicked me out when I made the mistake of jumping up near the barrier..oh well, they couln't take away the spirit
what a show, bloewn away, thats first seeing saomeone sing in a wheelchair, how many singers would do that, brilliant Shane
what an effort to get there, for all who made it, well done, and for those who couldn't, put your favourite records on, i don't mean to be trite
good luck back in NYC tonight
Thats one of the best gigs ever seen last night, though my first time at the Ritz in Manhattan on the Rose of Tralee tour in 87 with Joe Strummer was magical
Phil, you are a star, I don't know of anyone who puts that much dedication out to the fans, you truly made this happen for a lotta people, thanks from the bottm of my heart m8
well its time for some advil, and get ready for a soundcheck this afternoon, as tonight my band is playing our first ever concert, and thanks to our friends and family, its a sell out..... 290 tickets here in doylestown, and we are covering the Pogues, Waterboys , Saw Doctors.....hope everyone drives safe, we are way beyond excited, its been 5 months waiting for St patricks day
What an incredible start to the weekend by being there in Philly last night
slainte....

Philly Show

Saw the show in Philly last night. Not bad , but the Show at the Borgata in AC last year was much better as far as sound goes. It definately wasn't the band I just think the venue does not have very good acoustics. I did notice that the encores sounded much better.....don't know why that is. Also, Rainy Night in Soho sounded great.

Get there early! They went on before 9 pm on Thursday, I think. Caught a few people by surprise. Several at the bar weren't even aware that the opener had already played.

sigh...hated like hell to miss last night, I knew it would be a good one, but between the weather and (as it turned out) a very sick husband, there was no way I was leaving the house. Here's how bad it was - at one point he was desperate for some ginger ale. Of course we had none. Normally, even in crappy weather or when he's sick, he'll think nothing of throwing on the boots and heading to the 7-11 right up the street. Not last night - he couldn't even move off the couch. And there was no way I was going to tackle that walk; way too much ice and snow. We asked a neighbor if she could get some, but her car was frozen in the driveway (so much for thinking there was some way to drive to the show!). Called around to all the local pizza/cheesesteak joints. Everyone was closed. Finally called the Chinese delivery place. Yes, they had 2 litre bottles of ginger ale. Yes, they'd bring. Hurrah! I ordered enough food to meet their delivery minimum, and 45 minutes later he was set. So we watched the rerun of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and looked towards healthier, happier, warmer days.

I still might try for tonight, but dunno. Damn, damn, double damn. But what can you do?

OK, thanks for letting me vent, back to the fun!

As I sit here and watch the Wizard of Oz for the umteenth time with the children, sipping my diet Coke....I think of those who will be at Roseland tonight, St.Patrick's Day, and say, as before...YOU LUCKY BASTARDS (or in proper Bostonian, bastids)
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

Thank you so much, Philip - how lovely of you to do that, and how sad I am that I couldn't hear it. Truly a bittersweet moment happening right now, made more so by the fact that as it gets later, it's becoming less likely that I'll be there tonight. Hope everything goes well and everyone has a wonderful wonderful time. I will be there in spirit, believe me!
