Yeah...I was a bit too close to the speaker...

Does YouTube embedding not work here or does it just not show up in the preview of your posts?

Anyway, here's Part One of Rainy Night. Yup, i've got a camera with a three minute limit on videos.

Lights! Push Tom Hanks on stage please!

Seein' as O'Blivion along with QuincyDan and DzM are already in the editing room, can we now get some song assignments? If you are going to be at the New York shows (or even the Phlly show), let's get some folks volunteering for songs they want to record (see previous set lists and hopefully they won't change too much from here on out).
Anyone, anyone...Beu...nope, can't do it.

If someone claims the song you wanted, just pic another...unless by some miracle we quickly get the entire set list covered, then we'll start over with "second angle" versions of each song.

DJ, what show was the video from? Fri or Sat? It looks awesome, and more so because you were shooting, it seems , right over my head and didn't get it on there!
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

Sorry, thought I had dated that...too busy working on the photos on Flickr. That was from the Saturday night show (March 10th). I was, once again, on the first step off the dance floor, but this time I was not right on the barricade, 2nd row basically.

Had to get some of the crowd into it, but figured those near by were not as well lit. Though many of us were lit up.

oh, and thanks.

From my POV, figuratively speaking, multiple angles of the same song are preferable to single shots of entire songs. Ever see Jim Jarmusch's great Neil Young concert film Year of the Horse? He turned a dozen people with super 8 home movie cameras loose at a Crazy Horse show. It's fabulous. Actually, that's how they made Gimme Shelter too - just gave a bunch of people a Bolex and those little five minute rolls of film and then when the smoke cleared they pieced together what they had.

My buddy Gregg got a few minutes of "Sunny Side of the Street" last year on his phone, but it looked like hell. However, edited together with a bunch of other shots that look like hell you could conceivably end up with Art!

That's how Stan Brakhage would've done it!

This could be fun.

O'blivion, that's what I was thinking. You could have different videos of various quality, and if you put them together with a good audio track my thinking was that it would look pretty cool. Of course, this is up to those of you who will be in New York. I will not, to my perpetual regret, I'm sure.

Budget issues and principal photography has not even begun?!

We've gone Hollywood already. I think the mistake was booking big-name talent to draw investors. Next time Shane will have to be played by Shane, not Tom Hanks.

Shane will surely be played by Johnny Depp.

I guess this was basically what I was hoping for but also wanted to make sure and get as much of the show as possible. (Didn't want 25 or 30 versions of Fiesta or Streams of Whiskey...though multiples of several songs wouldn't be horrible.)
Also, that's why I brought up the Beastie Boys earlier, they did the same thing with their recent concert footage...Though as things stand (no pun intended) it doesn't look very possible anytime soon.
Here's to hoping for a quick recovery by Shane and a quick return for those fans that missed out.

I think concert videos taken from just a few angles are the best. Most videos have constantly changing angles and close ups of shite I dont want to see. Just put a camara up on the soundesk in the middle pointing at them and a few others here and there so it feels like your actually at the gig and not being teleported around every half a second!

With Shane's ability to perform the remaining dates in doubt...and the fact that he might be immobile should the show go on, this might not be the best time to try and record the remaining performance(s). Maybe we should just rally round Shane and the band for a quick recovery and start considerations for such a project upon announcement of the next tour dates.

Until then I'll give you some of my other recordings from the March 10, show at Avalon in Boston. And i'll apologize again for the sound as I was right next to the speaker (go ahead and turn your volume down a bit before you even click on these).

Sally Mac, one of my favorite songs and probably the worst sounding of my recordings. Kinda made me sad, but still fun to watch and even better seeing it live. (Good thing most of you don't know me, you can hear me singing along.)

Sunnyside, it's the softer/quieter songs that sound better.

Rainy Night, Pt. 1 and then Rainy Night, Pt 2, Someone needs to show me how to edit pieces like this together...without having to buy some expensive editing program (this is all i'd use it for and I won't be using it too often).

Anyway, hope some of you can enjoy these for what they are, I even made sure to try and get some crowd shots as well. :)

Thank you Philip, Shane, and the lot of yas!!! Oh, and photos will be added later as well.
