Thank you for Everything

Post Mon Mar 12, 2007 2:20 pm

I've been reading this board for quite some time now, never registered for the reason that I've never felt entitled to post. It seems to me now, though, that recently there have been a higher than average number of trolls and slightly unpleasant posters on the board, so I wanted to take a second to try to balance that out and express my gratitude for this board's existence and the information that it provides.

So a most sincere thank you to DzM for creating and maintaining this site, to all the posters who show their passion that makes this board what it is, and most especially to Mr. Chevron, Mr. Fearnley and Mr. Stacy for taking their valuable time to provide information and entertainment that can't be found anywhere else. I wanted to say that for every poster who types in all caps asking if Shane will be on tour or when will you be coming to my country/city/region, there are others who are over the moon for every one of your posts, who read the tour diary repeatedly, and who count their blessings to be able to connect with the band in a way that is to my knowledge unique among bands of the stature of the Pogues. To paraphrase William Burroughs, you're the source.

I look forward to seeing you perform this week with great anticipation and excitement, and even though they say you shouldn't try to meet your heroes for fear of their not meeting your expectations, I feel that my expectations have been exceeded through the actions taken over the past few years for your fans. I've been trying to avoid fanboy-style gushing, and sadly realize that I'm probably wide of the mark by some margin.

Finally, I realize the irony of my being a Guest poster and using the actions of my fellow unregistereds as reason to post, but there it is.
