Not sure yet about the 17th but on the following day I'll be watching London Irish hopefully bear Wasps at Madeski Stadium Reading listening to Bible Code Sundays one of a few bands playing the Guinness Village from noon throught to evening

Was thinking about seeing them last year (at the same place) but after seeing them at Covent Garden the week before I decided it wasn't worth it for a St Patrick's Day.

I'm still no' sure what to do... obviously I'll be out for the rugby match, and maybe the france scotland one (since it's just as important!) but I don't know where to go for the evening. Was planning on going to the Hammersmith Irish Centre since my mate is playing support band there, but they might be sold out already :shock:

Well i think i am gonna be in the Ceol Castle in Ballsal Heath on Saturday, there's a traditional Irish band on so it will be busy no doubt- maybe see you in there

Just notices that my thread was merged... wtf?! The thread I made was asking about events this year in England on the 17th. This thread is asking about if the Pogues will ever play St Patrick's Day in England. Not the same.

Philip, this is wonderful. Very magical and full of stunning acrobatics, great music, inventive use of the back drop. Puck and Titania were particularly impressive, but then the forest scenes always steal the show from the court scenes. At first I thought using languages which not even 1% of the white British audience can understand was plain stupid and a pretentious stunt, but in the end it didn't actually bother me much. It really does give a new perspective to a familiar play, and the magical and enchanting qualities shine. Trust all the brilliant reviews the production seems to get!

Hope all of you got home safe by now and are enjoying a well-deserved rest.

Thanks, I look forward to it all the more now. On the matter of language, some of the most slamming productions of Shakey I've seen have been in foreign language productions without the benefit of surtitles. I saw a magnificent and witty Merchant a few years ago at Stratford.
