Chicago - Congress Theater question

Post Fri Feb 23, 2007 3:45 pm

Has anyone attened a concert at The Congress Theater before? I'm wondering if they allow cameras or not. I've tried to contact The Congress Theater by phone (no current number availabe and the two that I've found just return a busy signal constantly) and I have tried contacting them through their website with no response. . I'd like to bring a camera to the show to get a few pics but don't want to argue with security over it. Any ideas?

Any Chicago locals out there that can shead some light on this?

There were plenty of cameras at tonight's show, and the security guard said cameras were allowed :D

Also got treated to Poor Paddy and The Auld Triangle, as well as Kitty tonight! :D

to clarify the camera rule:

no detachable lenses are allowed. so if you have a basic one piece digital camera you're cool. But if you show up with a camera that allows you to switch from wide angle to zoom lenses, then you are out of luck.

I had my little point and shoot digital and that was ok. But my sister had her more professional looking digital (no zoom lens) and was told she could not bring it in.

I do have to say that the staff of the Congress were really nice about the whole thing.

Agreed, I had no troubles getting my point and shoot digital in. I would slam the venue though for being impossible to get a hold of ahead of time to clarify this point. Their box office and/or management could never be reached to clarify this ahead of time. I'm glad that I took the chance and brought the camera.
