Setlist for March 2007 *Possible Spoiler*

Post Tue Feb 20, 2007 3:08 pm

I put the spoiler warning in the title b/c some people may want to be surprised. I don't.

Are we going to get the same setlist as last year, Mr Chevron? Any additions/deletions?
IIRC, this was the setlist from last March:

Streams Of Whiskey
If I Should Fall From Grace With God
Broad Majestic Shannon
Turkish Song of the Damned
Young Ned
Pair of Brown Eyes
Boys from County Hell
White City
Tuesday Morning
Old Main Drag
Sayonara
Repeal of the Licensing Laws
Sunny Side of the Street
Body of an American
Lullaby of London
Thousands are Sailing
Dirty Old Town
Bottle of Smoke
The Sick Bed Of Cuchulainn

First Encore:
Sally MacLennane
A Rainy Night in Soho
Dog

Second Encore:
Star of the County Down
Fairytale
Fiesta

I'd like to make a playlist of this year's show so I can get even more excited than I already am.

I'd much rather be surprised on the night (not that I'm going anyway). Why would you want to know all the songs in order? Might as well stay home and listen to the live at Brixton CD if you want regiment.

I agree that both would be great additions. Lorca's Novena in particular, for me, would be a huge addition. But, I guess we all have our drop this and add that requests in the back of our heads. I was even thinking that if Shane could handle Kitty, then maybe he could handle ATBPWM.

there's just not really any of the nitty gritty off of that album
if you can play a song as nasty as old main drag
surely these two would be well called for?

Yeah, I agree. But an equitable distribution across albums is not what they are going for, I think. Funny thing is that just under a year ago I was saying that Hells Ditch was a quickie, and unrefined, and then not long after I'm saying it was perhaps more refined, holistically, than the others, and the mix is bang on. Sometimes it takes time to appreciate. But Lorca's Novena is a fucking excellent song, and it would be good to hear it sung by the Pogues before I die. "Mother of all...." on my headstone. :)

Lorca's Novena is my son's favorite Pogues song. That, and Rain Street, which was on the setlist for a few shows last year but had been dropped by the time I saw them.
Disclaimer: These are my opinions and not fact as realised in these here United States, lest I give my friends the idea that everyone thinks like me.

As indicated in James's blogue, "Hell's Ditch" was attempted at rehearsals. The stumbling block is usually Shane himself. However much he wants to do these songs, he rarely finds the time to learn them.
