Pogues Show at Avalon

Post Wed Jan 31, 2007 12:42 am

Does anybody know if the Avalon in Boston is going to kick the Pogues out at 10:00 o'clock for Eurotrash night like they usually do. I think its time Boston area Pogues fans put their foot down on this, especially if we pay 63 bucks a ticket.

Avalon Tickets

Post Thu Feb 01, 2007 10:34 pm

Never been to Boston, much less the Avalon, so this is a biggie for me.

Curious though, are there any reserve tickets for the Avalon or is it all General Admission?

Avalon is all GenAd.
Get there early to get up front.
Tape nip bottles/half pints to your calves so you won't have to go to the bar. If you leave your spot on the floor, you won't get it back.
.................
No doubt you'll see a mighty clash between the arriving e-fiends and the departing whiskey hounds around 10:20 on Friday and Saturday night. It happens after virtually every weekend show. The Lyons brothers are all about making scratch. That place is double booked all the time.
.................
Avalon is intimate but the acoustics are much better at the Orpheum.

got tickets to the Orpheum. As much as I'd like to go to a GenAd pogues show, I'd much prefer a familiar crowd.

I'm just gonna havve to drink my fucking ass off, that's all.

I plan on being in the city by Thursday night and just fuck around doing the tourist thing.

Only had two days total in the city last year.

The last few shows I seen at Avalon they had beer vendors walking around the floor.

beer at Orpheum

Post Wed Feb 07, 2007 2:43 am

Big reason why I chose The Avalon over the Orpheum was the no-beer-in-the-theatre-just-in-the-lobby policy.

That was the case last year. Has it changed? The lobby was packed because you couldn't bring your drink into the theatre.

Yeah, you couldn't bring a beer into the theater but they had no problem letting people piss freely in the aisles. The asshole sitting to my left pissed all over my jacket. Hell, I take full responsibility for letting my coat hit the floor. Christ, can we have a little more class this time around?

Post Thu Feb 08, 2007 3:58 pm

Never got a response the first time I asked/mentioned this, but does the Avalon serve liquor?

And second, are cameras allowed in the Avalon?

thanks!

Yeah they serve liquor. There is a full bar on each side of the floor. It depends on the show with cameras, sometimes they are really strict, searching people for them. Other times I've seen alot of people with cameras.
