Leaving of Liverpool

Post Fri Jan 19, 2007 6:47 pm

I was curious as to if anyone's heard this played live before... has anyone ever heard even a recording of it live?

Not by The Pogues.

I've heard loads of other bands do it live.

Seems to be a favourite round here for some reason.

More popular than "I wish I was back in Liverpool" or "Liverpool Lou" ?

But there's lotsa girls with peroxide curls..."

Yes actually it is.

It's also more popular than another Liverpool classic "Maggie May" (no not the Rod Stewart song).

The lyrics go as follows (according to http://www.chordie.com):

MAGGIE MAE
Beatles

Oh, dirty Maggie Mae
they have taken her away
and she'll never walk down Lime Street any more.
Oh, the judge he guilty found her
of robbing the home-ward bounder
that dirty, no good robbin' Maggie [G]Mae.
It's the part of Liverpool
she returned me to
Two pound ten a week that was my pay.
