I can say it ain't so, but I'm afraid it will not change things. Peep here for explanation of the omission.

Anyone know who and when the warm-up band is playing?

Last night's show at the Avalon was I think one of the best Pogues shows I have ever been too. William Eliot Whitmore, a cross between Johnny Cash and Tom Waits opened the proceedings in style. Stomping his foot, strangling notes out of his banjo and regaling us with songs about moonshine, messed up relationships and trouble with the law. His music is certainly worth checking out. He also sums up the current Pogues, "those Pogues, they are a well oiled machine." And they certainly are. The boys are playing better than they ever have before, the music is taking on textures that haven't always been present. Turkish Song of the Damned and Body of an American were absolutely magnificent and the Broad majestic Shannon was indeed majestic. Shane was an absolute revelation, grinning, albeit gargoyle like, and seeming to be really enjoying himself. He sang like an angel and even entertained with some stage tricks, and he was the first member of the group back onstage for the encores.

The Pogues really are the best band in the world.

Well Phil, you had the pulse on that one... so sad poor I couldn't go. Still not giving up any answers as to why you said so?

The show at the orpheum was a f'n blast. I can say shane sounded a helluva lot better then he did last year(and he sound great then too). The only scary part was when Shane took a face plant during one of his offstage runs. He got up like a trooper and continued. Great set list also.

We generally felt that both Chicago shows were on the money, though last night in Boston trumped them both.

Ok, so now I hate everyone in Boston, ha ha

Congradulations really, it is hard to imagine as the band was so tight, what was better last night?

If we knew than answer to that, we'd do it every night.

I will humbly suggest a couple of reasons why the Saturday 3/10 show was the best:

1) Global Warming, after some nights of single digit temps, it was around
50 degrees Saturday night at showtime.

2) Since this was the "first" Avalon show that went on sale, I think
you probably had the most hardcore fans in attendance.

3) To steal a line from a buddy, The Pogues are like a fine wine or cheese
they just get better with age.

All major factors, no doubt. The final night in Boston (the Orpheum) was OK and actually, from our vantage point, the audience was terrific. What we do as a band expends more mental and physical energy than we ever confess to, and I don't suppose that can be sustained indefinitely, which is why the Orpheum did not scale the dizzy heights of the Avalon. I think it's fair to say that we will be making full recuperative use of our two days off in New York before we rev up again for Roseland.

The reason why Shane took so long to get back on his feet after his stumble is that he decided to try to make it look like this happened every night, so that the fans would not be too concerned about him. "Sure, I sit down on the stage having a drink and a cigarette with my mates Joey and Murray round about now every show. Doesn't everybody?" Who could not love this guy? He's like the domestic pussycat who "meant" to fall from the tree.

Mr. Chevron, just in case no one has said it, I will be presumptious (sp?)
enough to speak on behalf of all us Boston Fans and invite you back
again next year.

Definitely agree about the amount of effort-it is amazing. I know
towards the end of the show Saturday, you even had to loosen your tie(!)
and swig some Red Bull.

Glad to hear Shane seems to have suffered nothing serious. Glad the crowd seemed alright to you, I think two glorious nights in a packed Avalon may have influenced folks vision a bit - I know it did mine.

Wish you all the best with the rest of the tour - I need way more than two days to recoup from this, I don't know how you guys pull that off...

Great show at the Orpheum last night, boys. I love the new set list, it was really awesome to see Kitty and Poor Paddy and Teusday Morning. Not having Fairytale was actually cool for me, as I saw it last time and honestly have heard that song about 10,000 times at this point. Not that it isn't a great tune...

The Orpheum was hilarious. Anyone figure out what the feedback was? That was retchid. Shane buggered the Hell out of a few songs, and what was that enormous silver thing around his neck that looked like a cross between an old stop watch and some sort of digital crazyness?

I had front row seats which was incredible. Right in front of Spider, Daryl and Jem. You probably didn't see me, Phillip, but if you remember the really tall guy, 6'4 with longish hair next to a blonde girl, leaning on one of the small speakers, that was me. Nice suit :thumbsup:

Is Shane's leg okay? I saw the whole fall and he looked like he hit pretty hard. Wish him well for me.

The Orpheum show was excellent, but indeed tough to compare it to Avalon (I only attended Friday night). Avalon just had a different feel since we were all crammed together on the floor with beer cans piling up at our feet. The Orpheum has a different sound and an overall different feel with having seats and all.

Both shows were brilliant in my view and I'm glad I got to experience both. As it turns out it was my 17 yr old cousin's first concert and he was thrilled. I thought he'd break his hands he was clapping so hard after Sally MacLennane. His mom was seeing the Pogues for the first time in 20 yrs -- first time was at a bar in Tipperary -- and she was pretty happy, too.

Yes, it was obvious to me...you just aren't familiar with my sarcasm (which isn't easily transmitted via text anyway). "Wish him fell for me," doesn't even make sense.
