seven towers: i would'nt rule out the tower theatre, evn though its all seated the pogues have played in venues like this as recent as Boston '06.

and the tower theatre is a legendary venue worthy of the pogues graceing its stage.

I understand the plan is to play the Electric Factory in Philly. We have never forgiven the Tower Theatre for allowing David Bowie's cherry-picker "spaceship" to break down in the middle of "Space Oddity" in 1974, forcing Halloween Jack to clamber back down its stem in full view of the audience to get to the next song.

You're tipping your hand...could it be that Shane plans to use a similar cherry-picker UFO in this round of shows? If so, I still think the Trocadero would be the best place. As an olde vaudeville joint it probably has some deus ex machina gear laying around backstage.

Still, and seriously, the Electric Factory will do nicely. This is incredibly exciting news.

The Irish already killed Vaudeville once [or at least, Joe Kennedy did] so let's have no twisting of the knife.

Would it be a fairly accurate guess to assume the band will be playing in New York on 17th March ???? The prices of flights from Manchester are pretty cheap around then!

Phillip,

Sincerely thanks to you and the rest of the boys. I've had a tough few months and this news cheers me up immensely.
Come visit my two new Pogues fans, twin boys Shane & Dylan and follow them from birth, through the ICU and home: http://grierboys.blogspot.com/

This March will be the best ever. I hope that the show is not on St. Patrick's Day in Philly, its my wedding day. This is really great news.

Thanks for the info Phil. I've been to four gigs at The Electric Factory-Radiohead in 97, Dropkick Murphy's/Sick Of It All in 2001, Converge in 2002, and The Popes in 2002. Hope to go to the Philly show with my wife and in-laws, who I have converted into huge Pogues fans.

It is an amazing venue. I just saw Radiohead play at the Tower last June. I can't think of a better ambiance to hear Exit Music, You And Whose Army, Pyramid Song, and Street Spirit. The air conditioning sucks in that place. By the end of the gig it must have been 120 degrees in that grand old oven.

Hopefully not at the HOB, the Vegas HOB had a very strict "no cameras at all" policy. I'm guessing that the Chicago HOB would be the same.

Yup, Chicago HOB does have that policy. I'm the unofficial mayor of the southside of Chicago, so my hopes are high.
