For fucks sake man, read Spider's post.

Fair play to everyone for carrying on in those circumstances.

Do you look for your money back every time you go to a gig that is not up to your standard. Everybody has off nights now and again and I think in the circumstances Shane did well to go on at all. So get over it

A REFUND IS GOING A BIT FAR I HAVE TO SAY ,IT WASNT THAT BAD FOR SURE ,im sure the two pogues who have answered this thread would appreciate the negative side to some posts [mine included !!] if no one complained they may of thought all was well .being a pogues fan is a god given gift , a gift im sure pleased to posess, but ,such posts i feel needed to be vented ,ive read the brixton reports ,and it seems they were great again .i hope our negative posts have spurred them on ,to be the best live band out there again . i must add also ,the two pogues ,phil and spider ,did not deny to giving a below par performance ?all in all im greatly pleased the bhoys turned it around again in brixton .its been mentioned quote 'we are only human 'sure you are bhoys if the effect of toms death affected you that much,i retract my original post ,and say sorry to you the pogues ,i was gutted myself

I haven't posted on this subject, but I have to say even though the sound was not up to scratch I still had a great night and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

My partner did too, I asked him because I know he's very fussy over sound quality and will spend hours turning the knobs on the stereo at home to get it right.

The highlight for me obviously was going backstage and meeting the lads. Philip is a true gentleman and Andrew was all too happy to spend ten minutes chatting to us.

And thanks again Philip for dedicating thousands to me (aswell as Tom), that made my night, I'm still overwhelmed now.

Hey ok I apologise but it took me more than 3 months to save up that kind of money and it was a very important celebration. it was frustrating to hear the lads putting on great shows elsewhere apart from the MEN although I do understand the circumstances......so sorry spider and phil..

From what Phil and Spider say I think you have to give credit to the fact that the band came out at all. I know that might sound stupid as they are professional mussians but they are also human beings as well. Especially Shane, who in the past has been criticised for not showing up for gigs for smallest reason. For him to go on and perform shows great character. Secondly, from some of the posts here youd think theyd gone on, done two numbers and fucked off (Van Morrison anyone or Beastie Boys at the liverpool Royal Court ((although the beastie boys ran for the life after batting a can of lager at a young girl in the audeince but thats a different story). The boys did a whole set that improved dramaticly as it went on and as some posters have said did some material that hasnt been heard live for a long time. The Pogues reformed five years ago and this is the first time I think they have put in a poor performance. Compare that to the early nineties when, and no offence here to the boys but you wouldnt know if you what you where getting. Anyway I'll shut up and just say thanks for sticking with it on Saturday night when others may have not have done.

It wasn't that bad.

I think after the first view songs in wich unfortunatley you couldn't hear Shane thing's got much better.

When he first walked on he didn't look in the best of condition, and i was even more worried when streams of whiskey started, but after the past few years of going i knew that you always have to wait for Shane to ge into things.

Kitty was good as was The Auld Triangle and White City, Fairtale Of New York was as usual great. I would never ask for a refund, i thought over all the night wasn't bad and i don't know how anybody can say it was his worst.

It was not the best Pogues gig I have seen by a long way but hey it still pissed over most other gigs by anyone else. There is nothing in the world quuite like a Pogues concert and long may they continiue.

Fuck off to everyone who believed The Pogues gave a terrible performance. The band is only human and are bound to have a rough night once and a while. People have blasted Shane for his performance, well I think you too would be in the best of spirits if you just learned that one of your best friends had just passed away.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but i've just seen it today. Me and two mates travelled across from Hartlepool, two of us are big Pogues fans, the other isnt or should say wasn't. He doesn't own any of the albums and would only admit to liking one or two songs. Anyways, as already mentioned in this thread the sound mix was a bit off, for the first couple o songs and this was jumped on by my sceptic mate, but after that was sorted who could complain?? Couldnt keep my mate still, jumping all over the place in rough time to the music. A great night had by us all. Fantastic atmosphere at the MEN and a fantastic performance from the band. Many thanks!!
