Not at all unlikely, they're playing in Norway in August :)
Unfortunately I'm going to the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool a week before, so I won't be able to catch several shows in Sweden, Denmnark etc...

Ok, Shane Bourbonnais emailed me back, bookings for the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver are handled by:

"Hoffman, Erik" <ErikHoffman@LiveNation.com>

So deluge him. Please. And maybe the Pogues' next west coast tour will include a stop in Vancouver.

Rec'd this message from Mr. Hoffman today:

Oh it's a problem alright. God knows I've tried. It's always "something".

Tell your pals on the forum we'll get the band up to this dirty ol town
sooner than later. It's always on my radar.

Erik

Hey Livenation! - how about you cut your brutal "service" charges? I'd pay more for a ticket if the money was going to support the members of my favorite band, in the manner which they deserve, and have rightly earned.

A source at Live Nation says service fees typically average about one third of the total ticket cost. - Billboard

I can get behind that Steve. They're getting now upward of 10% + of the freakin ticket price (from my experience) and more in some cases?!?!

What are they getting now upward of 10% + of the freakin ticket price in some cases?!?!

Well, let's see.

A source at Live Nation say [they] average about one third of the total ticket cost

That would typically be represented as "~33%." "10% +" would not be a very accurate representation of "average [...] one third."

Yeah I had to make a quick correction on that.....I mistakenly was looking at a Ticketmaster receipt when I wrote the percentage was lower.

I went back to look at my last live nation statement and I was charged $15.50 on a $60.00 TICKET or a tad over 25%. Who would have thought I would say ever say Ticketmaster was better at anything!

From facebook I promised to pass the word from fans that post wishes of the Pogues coming to their city....

Sweden, France and Australia along with the usual Canadien contingent and even Chicago have all fevorishly requested concert dates via FaceB.

Also a request from an American FB fan named "Jane"

I know lots of people request the Pogues (and rightly so!) to come on tour to their country or near where they live. Based on a similar theme, I'd like to request they come over to my house for tea, biscuits, gin and cigarettes. I have a nice... little back yard with a paddling pool so they could take a dip to cool off, then put on a quick show on the patio for me and the neighbors. :)

(NJR editorial comment....should I win the MegaMillion lottery I promise you we will make the gents a fine offer to play for a select crowd)

The Pogues in Canada!!!!

Seriously, what is the deal??? This board is constantly flooded with Canadians flying all over the world trying to see the Pogues. Other threads see people bitching and moaning about how they play their city 7 years in a row and how they want new material or a new Christmas tree stage prop. Whoever, is booking the Pogues needs to realize the following....Toronto is the 3rd largest market in North America....The Canadian dollar is nearly at par with the American dollar....and mostly the Pogues haven't been here in decades!!!! How about a quick tour of Toronto, and Montreal a weekends work.

Please work out a deal to come here I know maybe you aren't getting the guarantee you want or some other thing. But there is a huge audience here, I am sure something could be worked out.

Canada is beginning to feel horribly left out. What is it???? We can CHANGE!!

Thank you,
Canada

Perhaps they simply do not like Canada

But seriously: They played both in Boston and New York

The travelling distance from Toronto to Boston is about 880 km, Toronto to New York is about 800km. With today's cheap airline tickets no big deal. And hey, there isn't even a greater body of water in between. So driving is no big deal as well.

The last couple of years I travelled to Manchester for the Christmas shows: 946km. And the Channel in between
