Pogues, Please come to Notre Dame

Post Thu Sep 13, 2007 1:00 am

Pogues,
The most Irish, non-Irish place in the world with a French name needs you.

I've been a fan since the mid eighties and can think of no other place I'd rather see the Pogues if not in Ireland. Since Bono disrespected us in the 90's by refusing to play anywhere but our sacred football stadium, I always assumed the Pogues would just show up one day.

Now, I cannot figure out why the best Irish band never graced us with their presence.

Can anyone drop a message to the Pogues? Tell them the best place across the pond is waiting.

Between 1791 and 1853 approx 26,500 Irish convicts were sent to Australia. By 1837, one third of Australia's total population was Irish. Near where I live, NW of Sydney, is the site of the Irish convict rebellion the Battle of Vinegar Hill, named after the similar uprising in Ireland. (and of course Ned Kelly was Irish.) Many Australians seem to be quite proud of they can find some speck of Irish blood in their ancestry. Every year there are local events commemorating the Battle of Vinegar Hill on March 6. Also around that time is the famous Hawkesbury Fiddle Festival and it's all close to St Patricks Day. What a great time for the Pogues to tour...
yawn, I'm as bored with all the talk of how many of you can get to this concert or that as you probably are with this.

Well, of course, we're always more than happy to play to Irish people and people with Irish roots, but we have always found them to be just a sizeable minority of our audience. You don't find many in Japan, for instance.

Speaking of Japanese people. Today I heard why Asian people get drunk so easily. The miss an enzyme in their body

Totally offtopic but something I wanted to share

which one, maybe i can lose it too

Will you ever come to Serbia?

Post Fri Oct 26, 2007 2:18 pm

My favourite band, thank you for all you have done for me.

I laughed and cried with your songs, they made me realize a lot of things about life, love, history... Two days ago i kissed and made out with a girl I like for a long, long time while listening to your beautiful tunes.

I am from Serbia, from a town called Smederevska Palanka and I'm 17 years old.My biggest wish is to see you live in concert. I would travel to a foreign country to see you, but, unfortunately, like the most people from Serbia, don't have enough money for such action.

So,please,if you ever have a offer to come and play in Serbia, don't refuse it.

I'll be waiting in the front row!

From the legendary kingdom of Italy...
Any chance of a Pogues show in our country? I guess "never say never", however I'll wait for a reply from Mr. C.
I cannot thank you enough for what you have done (music and poetry) through these marvelous 25 years.
Greetings from Italy to all of you Medusans!
