We ask a lot of money to play Festivals and not every promoter is keen to pay it. Which is fine, that's their prerogative, as it is ours not to drop our price. But who knows? We're always happy to listen to offers which do not insult our intelligence.

I dont think bands get paid allot to play glastonbury they just do it because its glastonbury. It would be amazing to see the pogues there but then again its really hard to get tickets and i might have to commit suicide if i didnt get tickets and the pogues were headliners.

Because it's Glastonbury? Sorry, the name fails to enchant me into accepting less than my market value. I'm funny like that.

Bands play Glastonbury because some promoter pays them to play Glastonbury. They do it to make a living, y'know. I'm a musician myself and I would still ask money even if I got the chance to play Glastonbury. It's not like there's any less gear hauling, getting to the venue and back, sound checking, setting everything up and all just because it's Glastonbury.

Im not saying they dont paid but compared to other festivals they dont get paid allot. Most new bands would play glastonbury for free if they had the chance because its GLASTONBURY OK CAPO

Well yes, maybe. But it's new bands being willing to play prestigious dates for "free" that has maintained the hierarchy of the music biz for so long, with The Man at the top and the group as bottom feeders. In 2006, The Man works for The Pogues. It's a small victory, but it's born out of a belief that we do most of the work, are better looking and more talented than The Man. He's still wealthier, but we're working on that.

I still love going to Glastonbury, as a festival i think it has lost some of its atmosphere but the smaller stages still throw up some great moments as for the mighty Pogues playing it now , i am not too bothered one way or the other lets not forget it was only Kylies illness that prevented her from headlining last year.If the Pogues played it would be the Pyramid stage and that means far away for even those down the front and i love nothing more than gettin up close at Pogues gigs, then again i spose there is allways the chance they double up and do an unanounced gig in the left field tent which would be worth the entrance fee on its own .
just so long as there are Pogues gigs to go to i am happy as a pig in shit

Would you play at the Hebridean Celtic Festival, you've been heavily linked with it for 2 years now in the local press and just in general chat, and you seem to fit the bill. Everyone would love you to play there, and i'm sure you would have one hell of a time because all the crowd are fans of folk music.
