Experiences with The Point?

Post Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:29 pm

hi guys, i am just organizing my girlfriend´s birthday present.
Plan to come to Dublin. I know, Brixton would be lovely, but she
loves Ireland, so it will be The Point. I understand to order tickets online
via http://www.ticketmaster.ie, but i wonder if I should keep an eye on a certain category - if there are different ones at all.
Can any body help with experiences?
Are floor tickets strictly limited and controlled?
Is there enough space to step a little back for a small person in the
standing area? Are their balconies? I know far too many questions, but
before you don´t know what to write :)
and generally is there wild dancing nowadays? (i'm sorry, but my last pogues show was on the hells ditch tour and there was extremely wild dancing in Essen, Germany) Any help until next friday is very much appreciated. See you then folks. Can´t await to be honest.

Well, it's many years since I watched a Pogues gig, but there is still plenty of wild dancing, I do know that. At the Point, the standing and seating areas are mutually exclusive and, I understand, rigorously policed. All seating is in the balconies and at the rear of the ground floor.

I saw the Pogues there in 2004 and was lucky enough to get an armband for the pit down the front which were being handed out randomly in the car park to anyone with a standing ticket, i reckon its a well strict venue, i nearly had my mobile phone confiscated by an over zealous security guard for taking a picture. Overall i've gotta say its my least favourite of the current venues the band plays, though i've not been to manchester and i do have a preference for the smaller venues. I loved the Birmingham academy gigs and Glasgow academy is also great, Brixton too, hell anywhere's great to see the mighty Pogues, i usually manage to get down the front anyway- Can't wait allready :P :P

Huzzah! I've been for the last two years one of the Glasgow dates... this year I shall try and get to both despite being completely broke, which will mean wandering the streets of Glasgow all night, I'll get mugged no doubt... but so long as they leave my ticket I'm happy.

Nope. I'm open to offers though. If I can score a couch/chaise lounge/cat basket or corner of the floor by the fire with a fellow Medusan, it shall mean all the more drinkys moneys to be shared about. Any takers??
