We'd be there for 7 or 8 nights if we tried to accomodate the demand. Anyway, I prefer it as a theatre. We might do our Panto there sometime.

The Point holds 8,000 in the configuration we use. Terry fances his chances as the Widow Twanky, but I have him down for Mother Goose. On ice.

The Point must be the worst venue for Pogues gig. Having lived in the UK, the gigs in London in the 80's and early 90's were so special because the venues suited the band AND crowd. The Town & Country and Brixton are the best ever.

I've been to the 3 gigs in the Point, these are the problems from a fans view.

Any fan I know wants to meet up in a pub before the gig and head to the venue maybe 30 mins before The Pogues are due on stage. If you do this in The Point you will not get any where near the stage because the Pit is sectioned off. Security give wrist bands to the first people at the venue whether they want to go down the front or not. the result is a half empty pit and hundreds of frustrated fans who want wrist bands and hundreds of people wandering around who couldn't give toss if they were in the action or not.

Dec 2001....The Standing area is flat. If your not in the pit and are stuck halfway back you'll see nothing unless your 6'7". Swore i'd never go to the Point again.

Dec 04....Flew to London unbelievable atmosphere in Brixton Academy. When I got back home, I had to go to see the Boys again. Got to the Point early, got wrist band, in the empty pit, no atmoshpere. It was obvious the band felt this, Gem seemed to notice this most.

Dec 05.... As above but a few more in the pit.

IS THIS REALLY HOW THE BAND WANT TO FINISH A TOUR???

THERE IS NO SUITABLE VENUE IN DUBLIN FOR THE POGUES. The Olympia would be amazing but as Mr. Chevron said 7 drunken nights ain't gonna happen.

IF ANYONE IS THINKING OF TRAVELLING TO DUBLIN THIS XMAS FROM OVERSEAS...DON'T. DUBLIN IS GREAT. THE POINT IS SHIT. GO TO LONDON OR GLASGOW.

MR.CHEVRON, YOUR HOME TOWN DOES NOT DO YOU JUSTICE.

THE POINT.......... WHAT'S THE POINT??

Where have you been Father? :D

The Point is certainly does not seem great for a rock show, but I greatly enjoyed the Pogues gig last year nonetheless.

The sound in particular I found excellent. Has that generally been true of the Point shows you've caught?

I'm here all along, just reading. But feel very strongly so put finger tips to keyboard.

The sound IS very good in The Point, but it's a barn. I think you would all prefer a great atmosphere but slightly dodgy sound, not the other way round.

The security guys are over zealous as well. And that's putting it politely.

Plus ca change.

Still, despite all this, Dublin in both 2004 and 2005 were among the best shows on the tour.

what does Plus ca change mean?

Do you mean technically the best or you enjoyed them the most? you seemed to enjoy yourselves more at Brixton.....you were up on Shane's stool during Repeal! It was awsome.

Maybe you could organise a gig for Medusans in some small venue, tell the other lads it's a rehersal...we'd all turn up, Oh what a night.

The full phrase in French is "Plus ça change, plus c'est la meme chose." which translates as "The more things change, the more things stay the same".
