I KNOW it's not Pogues, but I wouldn't mind if they threw Paddy Public Enemy No 1, or Donegal Express in there...

I am obviously being quite thick. My apologies Aineen.

No apology needed - I was also a little confused by the subject line at first.

Ooh - I almost forgot:

Rake at the Gates of Hell - I'd love to hear them open with that!!!

Those four can replace Fiesta 8)

I see your Fiesta and I raise you Rainy Night in Soho. If I win, I'll keep Fiesta and replace Rainy Night in Soho with both Kitty and Medley. Oh, and bring in Paddy Maloney for the pipes! 8)

Shit. It's half nine in the morning and I'm sober (duh!), I can't play poker then! I call for a compromise: how about we just expand the setlist and put "Fiesta" in when I need a wee break for buying drinks? (Band members should not whine now, it's as hard on us as it is on you :p)

WAXIES DARGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the way

It's an amazing song live because Shane and Spider both sing lead, trading lines.

And they haven't done it since '91

Ditto alot of the above. One of my early favorites is London Girl.
After the Katrina mess, this would be very appropriate in the US, as it has a very Cajun sound.

Well, that may not be so far fetched. The Chieftains are in Boston next
week just down the street from the Pogues. Here is Paddy on Shane
from the Boston Globe

Does Paddy Moloney know the Pogues? ''For my penance, I do," chaffed the Chieftain yesterday. ''We once did a week of shows in London, and the Pogues were with us. . . . God almighty, I'll never ever forget it." Over the next week, both Irish bands will be in Boston -- the Chieftains at Symphony Hall Saturday and Shane MacGowan's motley crew Tuesday and Wednesday at the Orpheum. ''I'm glad Shane's got himself together to play," said Moloney, whose band first played Boston in '73. ''We've all had our wild nights, but you realize what counts most is the music and playing for the audience." As it is for Bono and U2, Boston's been a special place for the Chieftains, and for Moloney in particular. His son, Padraig, graduated from MIT. ''He's now the first Irish rocket scientist with NASA," said Moloney.

I don't think you were being "thick" I understood the game as you did! I thought the subject was "songs you'd like to NOT hear them play" on their setlist. Now I see how we play! I love anything that comes out of Shanes mouth, they could cover Welcome to the Jungle, do it their way and I'd love it! Seeing them tonight in DC and I am psyched!

Waltzing Matilda
Poor Paddy
Summer in Siam
London Girl
Honkey Tonk Women
Donegal Express

...ah shit, I could go on forever. I've waited 12 years to see the Pogues, so I don't really care what they play at this point.

How about a two-hour set of the theme song for Maya the bee? (Biene Maja, don't really know if she is called Maya in English, just guessing.)

You mean for Maija, the "bat out of hell"? ;) But have mercy - dignified Karel Gott wouldn't survive having his beloved smashing hit no. 1 "stolen" and "butchered". :)

Exactly.
March 19: ???

After that show, everyone should come back to DC for "the finale". They'll need a larger venue than the 9:30Club though. I vote for the Kennedy Center.

Oh, and no problem with any Pogues songs. Last night they did a great job on Rainy Night in Soho.

Thanks, Pogues!

Yea, why not? ;-) (Die apokalyptischen Reiter did it. Sort of.) Ok, it was the first random child song I could remember that wasn't specifically Norwegian. I would have no problem with a two-hour set of "Bæ bæ lille lam" Pouge style either :p

I already got to see you guys in DC and no complaints, but if I got to add a song to the setlist that'd be the one
