Oh, winn, what a nightmare! I am so sorry such a horrible thing happened to you - thank goodness you're ok now, but oh, how terrible!

And dj - I'm so sorry for you as well! What night did that happen? From my vantage point it seemed that the security were trying their best to suss out the trouble makers, but sounds like they really blew that one.

I hate to hear stories like this. I'm not such a Pollyanna that I don't know this sort of thing goes on - lord knows I've been to enough shows over the years - but a concert is supposed to be a happy, special place, especially a Pogues concert. You shouldn't have to worry about shit like this.

PS - for both of you, please email or PM me your mailing addresses so I can send a little something to cheer you up! :)

Oh sheva its the worst time ever!!! I wasn't able to go! :(

cough.. my addy is......

In all fairness.. this is awful.. what is the world coming to? Drink bottles and put your thumb over the top so no one kind spike it.. thats what I hear always.. but what if you dont want a bottle and you want a pint in peace?

To be that close and then so far.. thats just dreadful. :(

I at least got to see a few songs. About 8 or 9 songs in I started getting pummeled from behind. I thought it was a crowd surfer so I just ducked down thinking it would pass, well it didn't. And as I tried to adjust to figure out what was going on a bouncer yanks me out and tosses me from the show...FOR STARTING A FIGHT!?! I truly feel for you. I've spent the past day and a half thinking about how the wonderful Nokia Center security didn't serve any justice in my direction. Rest of the show I sat outside waiting for my wife to join me and tell me all about the second half or two-thirds of the show.

very sorry to hear about what happened to you.

Man, oh, man. I'm really sorry to hear that this happened. It shouldn't've happened.

And you traveled from Florida for this experience?! Sad. Very, very sad.

I'm so sorry for both of you that had your Pogues experience ruined. I can't imagine what would possess someone to deliberately try and hurt someone else.

There were a long of young people around me who I think were only being held up by the crowd (it being St. Pat's) . I had a young man behind me who just wanted to put his arms around my waist ("puh yer armsh up") and lean his head on my back. :? I tried to shake him off a few times, and when I finally turned around to him to tell him to move on, I saw those dead eyes and knew it was no use. Finally my son made his way over and moved him along.

When I was leaving the theatre there was another young man crumpled at the bottom of the stairs - totally out of it. His friend was trying to get him up and I heard someone else offer to help - for some reason it really bothered me - I hope he was ok. All in all, these people probably did the damage to themselves. To have someone tamper with your drink is so frightening to me. Again, I'm very sorry it happened.

That's really fucked up. I hope there was no long-term damage to you, and whoever did it falls under a bus at some point.

Winn-Dixie that's awful. I hate to hear this stuff, I think how I would feel if it happened to my sister. or nephew or mom. Fortunately, such incidents appear to be infrequent at our shows, but I guess what people are saying is true - trust no one with your drink. I feel we owe you one, so if we do come back (or play Oz) please PM me and I'll arrange guest tickets for you.

So sorry to hear about your bummer experiences Dixie and dj... we wait for this magical moment so long, and it gets spoiled by some idiots. At least you both seem ok.

were you at the saturday show? Pretty early on, someone from up front threw something at James, which he was able to avoid most deftly. Looked like the bouncers bear hugged 2 people and pulled them over the barricade. I don't think it is possible for 2 people to throw one object, so someone was probably misapprehended. Very unfortunate - .
