saddest day ever

Post Mon Mar 20, 2006 10:22 pm

so i have been an enormous pogues fan for almost all of my 22 years.
i happened to be visiting New York last week (living in toronto for a few months- then back to sunny australia) and nearly died when i managed to get a ticket to one of the shows.. (after they had sold out)..
i arrived at 6pm when the doors opened and had 2 drinks while waiting for the guys to come on at 10.
someone spiked my second drink and i woke up in hospital on a drip at 1pm.
i couldnt believe it. i missed them. devistating.
please guys, please please play again soon, somewhere, near toronto so i can try see you again, or if that fails, come to sydney australia.
i still cant believe how close i was to seeing them.

Good Gods! Are ye OK, now hen? I too hope and pray they'll make it down here to Oz soon. Were you able to recall anything about who 'mickey-finned' you? For the PD, I mean?

Jesus, that pisses me off. You'd like to keel-haul a son of a bitch like that. I hope they make it to Oz and you are front center.
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

My God man!!!!!!   I thought it was just me. Fortunately my iron clad constitution allowed me to muscle through it though, and I made it through the show (on the 10th, in D.C.). I swear, somebody put something in my drink, though Carol insists that the 9:30 Club staff would only have put water in my drink, so it must be a serial stalking poisoner. Odd.

I am so sorry that happened to you, that is horrible and I really feel bad for you. My sister emailed me before the show and told me do not put your drink down for a second and dont accept drinks from anyone you dont know... I guess she knows something I don't. So sorry that happened to you!

It happens everywhere, not just NYC. Take your sister's advice.

y'know...oddly enough, I was slightly worried about something like this happening.

I'm only thankful that youre ok (are you?)

That really is just too bad. Did it happen at the concert? Or before the concert?

Oh my god, that's terrible. I'm glad you're OK. Some people are simply the scum of the earth, to do things like that.

Hey Phil, have everyone send this girl a greeting or something :)

you got me beat

Post Tue Mar 21, 2006 2:28 pm

because I got beaten...

I at least got to see a few songs. About 8 or 9 songs in I started getting pummeled from behind. I thought it was a crowd surfer so I just ducked down thinking it would pass, well it didn't. And as I tried to adjust to figure out what was going on a bouncer yanks me out and tosses me from the show...FOR STARTING A FIGHT!?! I truly feel for you. I've spent the past day and a half thinking about how the wonderful Nokia Center security didn't serve any justice in my direction. Rest of the show I sat outside waiting for my wife to join me and tell me all about the second half or two-thirds of the show.

very sorry to hear about what happened to you.
