All sounds very subdued Stateside? No mad stuff in the crowd? This is a Pogues tour you know....... :D

I did not see any of the UK shows, but I'd say there's been a fair amount. I've come out of both NY shows drenched, and with some pretty nice bruises.

I haven't noticed a mosh-pit as such, but the front house-center and house-right area seems to be very active the last two nights. And of course body/crowd surfing is going on.

Dunno why there's not a mosh-pit. I suspect it's just too crowded. Last night (March 17) it was so dense that it was difficult to move around the floor at all.

The D.C. shows had people fixed to the rail in teh front and then the zone about twenty feet from the rail (back into the crowd) was at times a little rough, but not a mosh pit per se. More like a lot of jostling, jumping, pushing off, etc... And like DzM says about NYC, DC was jam packed.

Yeah, that has me a little concerned. I'm a small gal, just not sure I'll see much of anything and being tossed around like a rag doll gets old fast. Really hoping I can get into those elevated seats people have spoke of.

Those seets seem to fill up, but it's not a fierce competition back there.

Sheva and Carmen are not large people but have both survived the rail two nights in a row. I think the secret is to get there early and then break out the Look Of Death whenever somebody gets close.

Since you've been there the last two nights, do you have an idea of what time I should get there in order to get into those seats? I've seen plenty of Pogues shows from the floor, and it was lots of fun, but I'll leave that to you young whipper snappers.

DC was nothing like last night. I hate to say this, but certain people in the crowd ruined the show for me. And no look of death seemed to help.

Highlights:
1) We get there, camp out about five rows back in the center. The guy in front of my girlfriend starts acting really drunk and repeatedly leans back on her until she is holding him up. When she pushes him off he glares and the girl he is with starts yelling at my GF. Eventually he tries to push my GF, I say something, and this girl starts screaming at me. Apparantly they had been there since 4:15. Like anyone cared.

2) Five minutes after this the guy to my right turns to me and says, I'm going to kick this guy's ass. He hasn't been to a pogues show before. You in?

3) Another five minutes pass. More leaning and shoving from moron in front. Guy to right goes after guy who has never been to Pogues show. I tell him, nicely, to calm down, after which he comes after me.

4) Finally the Pogues come on. Guy to right goes immediately after guy who has never been to Pogues show. He eventually ends up to my left. My girlfriend has been pushed into the rail. Guy now to left repeatedly tries to break her arm while screaming girl starts digging her elbow into my GF's hand to get it off the rail.

5) Eventually the press gets so bad that I lose my feet for teh first time ever at a gig.

6) Someone tries to pick my pocket.

7) Guy to left, with several others, boos and gives a thumbs down when band plays Tuesday Morning. Apparantly he was confused by who was playing.

8 GF gets pissed off and leaves with roommate to side of theatre. I'll eventually follow during Repeal. Roommate, who is large and usually angry will later tell me he's been to hardcare shows at the Knitting Factory with more conscientious people.

9) Finally, I meet some guys in flatcaps at the front. That arre claiming to be Macrua. I ask if they care about rules. They clearly don't. This is the highlight of the show.

I have to say, just comparing performances, not crowds, I thought DC came off far better. The band was incredible last night, but Shane looked far more into it and happier a week ago. Also the sound seemed better in DC. There just wasn't the spark for me from the 9:30. Just one guy's opinion, though. And that could have been that 4 or 5 assholes really ruined it for me too.
I like this bad set and I like getting drunk at luncheon.

Too bad Mr. D., but I really enjoyed hearing your tale of woe. So I assume the guys were from here? The MacRuas, I mean. :?

Glad someone got a joy from the tale of woe!

Macruas were in force and in fine form, I'm happy to report.

Where you stand can totally depend on how the show goes for you, no doubt. Standing up closer or in the middle, it can some times be going to two different shows.

I thought Saturday was the best I've ever seen them, better than DC.
