CAMERAS AND NYC

Post Thu Mar 16, 2006 6:35 pm

I am new to the forum, however I am seeing the NYC 3/16 concert and I phoned the theatre......apparently they are NOT allowing cameras tonight. I'm really disappointed...I saw million u2 concerts and even on venues where the tickets stated no camera, they allowed cameras. Oh well, I'll just have to live with the memories in my head..lol
I just wanted to give others a heads up. Be safe and enjoy the concert!! I am sooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

I don't want to cause anyone to have their camera taken or anything, but many venues make that their official policy, but dont really enforce someone snapping a shot from the middle of the drunken crowd....just an idea, though risky I suppose if they're actually searching people as you walk in.

Thats a good point....I only know of two venues where they actually prohibited cameras and confiscated them. I guess the parking lot is close enough, if I bring my camera and have to go back to the car its not an issue, but for people who are taking the train..it could pose an issue..hence I posted initially. Apparently the Nokia Theatre sets their camera policy per the preforming artists request.

If the average quality of fans pictures is anything like mine, I don't think the publicists have anything to fear from us.
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

I've been to a couple of shows at Nokia and I don't think they've ever checked me for a camera...once you get inside nobody's really paying attention, so you can always sneak it in in your pants or something. Be creative!

If you know a girl with really long hair who is going, you can have her do an "up-doo" and put the camera in there. You'd be surprised what you can hide in a woman's hair. Don't ask how I know that.

hahaha... i used to have long hair, but i just got it cut recently. i guess maybe it's easier for girls to hide it in their pants than guys, 'cause there are certain areas guards aren't allowed to touch and, well...i won't go into detail, but it's easier for girls to hide their stuff there for obvious reasons. often there also aren't many female security guards so they're more hesitant to frisk you. if they don't have any females on duty they'll usually just let you walk in.

I was at a show last night, not at Nokia, and was frisked three times! No shit. Tightest security at a show that I have ever seen. But then again, there was a lot of testosterone there.

I believe they have two coat checks - I'm banking on it!

I was thinking of bringing two cameras - a digital and a disposable - perhaps I could fashion them into a pair of earrings...no one would notice, would they? Or maybe a belt buckle. Better yet, I'll attach a long piece of leather strap and make it look like one of those groovy little purses. Ok, I'm trying to be creative - I think I'll just shove 'em down my bra. :P

For anyone who wasn't there last night but is going tonight or this weekend, there is a cursory scan of your body (to make sure you're not carrying a weapon, I guess) but they were apparently letting in cameras since I saw what seemed liked hundreds of them.

Cameras are allowed. No flashes, however.

thanks for the camera and coatcheck info. i think I'll skip the camera and bring the coat. besides, DZM did such a swell job with his camera, any picture I took would be a waste of disc space.
