I just saw the Dropkicks last night in Baltimore, and I saw the Pogues twice last week (I get a charge from even thinking about writing that! 8) ) and from that sample and some other past experience, I'd say the level of alcohol intake will be higher at the Pogues show. The testosterone level will be higher in Boston, and so more drunken fights. My guess anyway.

Any verbal sparring with "Shampoo Boys" after the Dropkicks gig?

   No!!!!!!!! Clean and sober. And do you know what amazed me? The number of people who didn't know who the Pogues were. Even as the Tossers belted out Turkish Song of the Damned, Dirty Old Town and Irish Rover, and the DKM did Triangle, and a few other trad Irish songs with a "punk" edge. I told a few people there that neither group would even be on that stage if it hadn't been for the Pogues. I got blank stares. Didn't hear one mention of the Pogues from the stage all night.

Hey Eric V., that's right, I remember you saying you were coming over to Baltimore to see Dropkick Murphys. The "blank stare" is expected when I talk about the Pogues or Shane to friends or family members who don't pay attention to music outside of the Top 10 on MTV. But at a Dropkick Murphys/Tossers show, you would think people would know who the Pogues were.

They must actually think this is a new form of music- traditional Irish meshed with rock 'n roll/punk...played by Amercian guys. LOL. Eric V., maybe you turned some people onto The Pogues at the show.

Cheers!

Well, I guess I was hoping that those two bands might say something about the Pogues, since right about now they are just settling into the wake of this Pogues Tour. DKM will be getting sloppy seconds in Boston for the next few days. At the bar, when I was getting my N/A beer, just before the Tossers went on, Tony Duggins was standing there talking to about 8-10 people who looked to be slightly older than most of the DKM crowd, and they were all focused on him, but it seemed like a bunch of fans talkin', so I threw in a "hey any of you make it to any of the Pogues shows?" I got nothin from anyone, but Tony says "nahh, we've been too busy touring... but I'm friends with all those guys." And that's it. Nothing from the others. I wanted to introduce my self as MacRua at that point... but didn't.
