I took a bunch of shots from the front row, which should have been amazing - sadly, however, only one came out crystal clear (somewhat ironically for me, a shot of Terry Woods). I'm either a completely incompetent photographer, or my camera just plain sucks. Personally, I'm going with the latter explanation...

Anyway, I'll see if I can make any improvements in Photoshop, and will post a link if I can get them looking decent.

(Sincerest apologies to the band if it was distracting to have someone in the front row taking pictures through most of the latter half of the show - I'd never done that before, but couldn't resist since we had such great seats!)

How is the Orpheum about cameras? They used to be ball busters, but if they're ok now, I may try and waltz in with my digital...I'm not bringing it, however if there's a chance of confiscation....

I had the same concerns about having my camera taken away by security (though in hindsight, given the quality of the photos I got, it wouldn't have been much of a loss!), but there was a security guy next to us so I asked him what the policy was - he said as long as it's a small handheld camera, it's fine. No one seemed to care, just as long as you turn off your flash.

I've posted a few photos (let's call them "artsy", shall we? it's so much nicer than "blurry and out of focus") from last night's Boston show here:

Sorry they didn't come out better!

Were you allowed to bring in a digital camera or did you have to sneak it in? Trying to figure out if it's worth the hassle of taking the camera along to the Nokia Theater in NYC.

I had no problem with using my camera, from a security aspect. As a matter of fact, I stepped into the aisle to take one and a security guard stopped so he wouldn't be in the way! However, it was a disposable digital, and I got nothing. It had an automatic flash, however, and that may be the reason.

Cool. I don't have a professional setup or anything, just an average guy with a point and shoot digital camrera. However I don't want it taken away either.

The picture of Terry is nice, though ;) Thanks for sharing - and the pics are not all that bad. Pictures 3-5 have very nice light effects, I like that a lot.

Did you just use 'sharpen' in Photoshop? Or the 'unsharp mask'? The latter will give much better results.

Eh, thanks for the suggestion, but nothing really made much of a difference. Of course, sitting here on just a few hours sleep, with a mild case of whiplash (better than "rum, sodomy & the lash", I suppose), cleaning up all the damn furballs that Fluffy has been hacking up all over the house, I have to confess that I haven't been all that motivated to give it my all.

Oh well, there's always next time...

The creative hand movement by Philip is, I believe, in the Irish Rover, where the ship lost it's way in the fog. Or he could be looking for the boorish heavyweight from Quincy who's roaring along, out of tune.

Camera's in NYC

Post Thu Mar 16, 2006 6:29 pm

I am new to the forum, however I am seeing the NYC 3/16 concert and I phoned the theatre......apparently they are NOT allowing cameras tonight. I'm really disappointed...I saw million u2 concerts and even on venues where the tickets stated no camera, they allowed cameras. Oh well, I'll just have to live with the memories in my head..lol
I just wanted to give others a heads up. Be safe and enjoy the concert!! :o I am sooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

Are you sure it isn't in Turkish Song of the Damned? That's where he did his belly dancer hand thingy in D.C.
