What does the set list look like?

Post Thu Mar 09, 2006 7:11 pm

Well...tonight is the first night of the US shows. And I know Mr. Chevron has been on these pages pretty regularly...even from DC. I am curious what is going to be played. Are they gonna mix it up, and play a completely different set list every night? Or, are there gonna be certain songs that we can count on hearing? (Which I am sure there are at least 10 that any one of us can think of that will definitely be played.)

So, from those who make it out to the shows over the next week and a half, could you report back to us about what was played? (If you can remember! :D ) Or, if Mr Chevron would be kind enough to spill the beans, it would be fantastic. We are going anyways, so there's no need for a surprise. I will be there the 19th and want to know what I can expect to hear.

Go to the UK threads and you will see what was played in December. I think the set lists were almost identical for those shows, but I do remember some people saying that a song here and there was different. Most importantly though, was the fact that they added and dropped several songs for the 2005 shows after (again I am relying on what others wrote) the set list had been pretty much the same for several years. So, I'm thinking they might add or drop a song or two from the 2005 sets, possibly tailored for what they would like to play to the American audience. I'm thinking Body of an American is a lock. USA might even be on the list. ATBPWM is a long song and is heavily reliant on Shane. I'm thinking that's a stretch, though many will love the anti-war theme and it is a fantastic song. Fairytale is a lock; Ella will be there (I think she's hot). Thousands is a lock. Personally I'd like to hear Boys from the County Hell. There are literally hundreds of Central American and Nepali mercenaries fighting for control of the capital city of Nigeria as we speak who apparently want to hear A Pair of Brown Eyes. I think the Pogues owe it to the people of Nigeria to appease them, but I guess we'll just see what happens over the next few hours. I hear they have a taste for stout.... the mercs that is. Regardless, I look forward to being surprised. I'd bet that you will not hear the set list from the Pogues. I'd also bet that I will not remember every song, nor the order, but look forward to being reminded by someone over the next few days.

I predict it look will look A4 in size, white in hue, and will probably be typed/handwritten in LARGE water/whiskeyproof print.

No nukes. Real warriors don't need them. Nuclear Biological Chemical ... or NBC... always had the nickname NBC -- No Body Cares, because ... well it just isn't sporting. Just good ole small arms, that's all I need. And a radio. And maybe a laser designator/rangefinder for guiding in 1000 lb bombs. Sigh....

ahhhhh...that's cute. I guess I asked for that one. Over here we don't have A4...we only have 8.5 by 11 or legal. I hope this sizing difference doesn't cause one of the boys to wipe their ass with the set list. But maybe that will force an ad hoc jam session of unparalleled proportions due to the lack of direction provided by the precious set list.

I hope they play Pair of Brown Eyes. I wouldn't want that war in Nigeria to get any bloodier then it has already become.

I think I've been on the fora an hour or so too long today. This thread has turned into a Monty Python sketch, complete with cartoons and voiceovers popping in and out.

It's not the fora, it's the fauna that does it. All those small furry tribbles. And life IS one big Python skit...at least that's what the priestess at Delphi told me... man, I better not have given her a pig, some beads and my firstborn for nothing......
