Hi all. I'm a relative newcomer to the board, and a Pogues fan since c. 1998.
I thought I'd make my first posting a bit personal. I'd despaired of never getting a chance to see the lads live; I couldn't believe my good fortune when I bought two tickets to the 17th and 18th - a personal dream will come true, and this only one day after my 28th birthday.
I just wanted to say cheers...
Cheers to all the first-timers who never thought the day would arrive.
Cheers to the long-time fans whose excitement never died, and who provided the impetus behind the return.
Cheers to all the young ones (like me) whose first experience was the SNL episode - back then, i thought it was either the best or worst thing I'd ever seen.
Cheers to my mate Hans for dubbing me my first copy of RS&L
Cheers to the band, and the passion inside them
Cheers to Mr. Phillip Chevron, whose postings have illuminated, entertained, and have served to stoke the fires
Cheers to me missus, who sided with me in choosing Rainy Night in Soho as our wedding song last July, this despite the objections of her own mother ('The ginger lady by the bed' threw her, I suppose). She'll be with me all weekend.
And cheers to everyone else spending the weekend in New York City. I hope your visit is a fine one, safe, beautiful, and charming to the last.
