I'm flying up from Houston, Texas on Mar 10. Plan is to blow some money in the casinos Friday night, and Party with The Pogues Saturday night. I cooked at The Stardust out in Vegas in the early 90's, but I've never been to AC so don't really know where to go or what do. But I do know my way around a casino. 8)
Played every Pogues song on the juke at Keneally's Irish Pub on Shepherd yesterday to get primed up. The Guinness and Bushmill's Black didn't hurt, either.

Well since the show is in a casino, my suggestion would be to pre drink in the Borgata casino itself. There are only a few bars from what I can tell. The tequila bar sounds the most relaxed. But I'll investigate more and post what I find.

My girl and I shall be there...we are staying at Harrahs which I believe is across the street from the Borgata. Any bar ideas would be appreciated.

WARNING anyone not familiar with Atlantic City, STAY CLOSE TO THE CASINOS....its not pretty or safe to get too far away from them.

Invest in $5 worth of quarters. Sit at a slot machine. Plug a quarter in once a minute. Enjoy free watered down bar drinks. Be sure to tip the poor waitress.

hahaha That's right! And the better casinos, the stronger the free drink.

This pub is in Harrah's

It looks so authentic. There are boxties and leek soup on the menu too. mmmmmm

But I'm asking locals' advice and will let you know.

I'll be driving in Fri night from NE PA, enjoying the games fri night, and the concert saturday. FYI the borgata is in the new-ish waterfront section of AC, not near the strip. From what i remember of the last time I was at the borgata, i'm pretty sure the trump waterfront isnext door, and the harrahs isn't too far off.

I'll be there - taking the train in from Philly that afternoon, meeting up with a friend coming down from NYC. Hope to meet up with folks there!

My memory of the venue is that there's a bar in the outer lobby area, I think (please don't hold me to it - I don't drink so I don't always take note of this). Please be warned, it's not a great place to see a show - but the Pogues will make it great!

I'll be at the AC show, can't wait!

For those of you looking for a place to go, there's a good Irish Pub in the new Tropicana 'mall'. The mall area has really good restaurants and is hopping on the weekends, and the pub is called "Ri Ra Irish Pub". It's relatively new but very nice and they worked hard to make it authentic. Excellent menu too of pub fare + nicer stuff. It's not real big though so get there early to get some bar space.

Oh, and yeah there are some decent bars in the Borgata - one called the Gypsy Bar that's just downstairs from the concert hall. That'll be packed, I'm sure.

And I'm not sure who said it, but the Borgata concert hall is pretty bad. A big room with carpeting, flat floor, and poor acoustics. If you're in the back you won't see shite. Still, it'll be rockin!!!

Oh Yeah!! Wassup ChefChil!! I'm over in Montrose/Near town! I'm headed to NYC for the opening night show and then some fun around town the rest of the weekend! AC is fun, the Borghata is probably the best bet for a Casino, it's like the Hard Rock in Vegas. Trump Plaza is a personal favorite of mine.

Kay's Lounge is my clubouse! (I like Kenneally's alot too. Killer pizza!)

Cheers!
