Cameras in NYC

Post Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:50 pm

People always seem to be posting gig pics. Will cameras be allowed in the NYC shows?

I was wondering the same thing. Want to keep the camera close so as to properly document my trip.

I thought cameras weren't allowed at the Manchester gig, but everyone had them, mostly digital. I ended up wishing I'd taken mine.

I've been wondering the same thing and posted this same question in another thread. I talked to the Nokia Theater and they said that it's a policy that the band sets. I've copied their response here below:

Hello,
Since the photo policies are normally determined by the artist, we usually don't know if cameras are allowed until the day of the show. You can give us a call at 212-930-1950 or shoot us an email on the day of the show and we should have a better idea then.

Best,

Thanks for the feedback, any definate thoughts Philip? I know people always seem to post their own photos and i'd like to build up my own library.

DannyBoy, like "SkaPunkAndOtherJunk" said earlier, usually small pocket size cameras (digital & 35mm incl.) are tolerated, unless the band has set strict rules for that night. At the last Danzig show, everyone was being searched and ALL cameras were being put in a box until the end of the show... Go in with a photo bag and an SLR camera with interchangeable lenses and you will not get in with it unless you have a photo pass. You'll be able to shoot the first three songs in the pit, no flash. This is industry standard. From my experience, most venues, stick to these rules regarding photography. Hope this helps clear it up a bit.
Good luck!
