I will not be making this defence again

What the fuck. Its a great thing to have Philip, James and Spider say a few things here and there on this forum. Philip has got a silver tongue when it comes to something that needs to be said, and it kills me to think he would have to defend himself here. Dude, Canadian dude, this is one of those thing you suck deep down inside. Realizing Philip had to say this on his forum (who is DzM?), ain't cool.

(Joke, DzM: I rarely contribute to forums other than this, however, this is one of the best kept, maintained and organized forums/websites I've ever come across).

The Pogues is a business, not a charity.....

Personally, I wouldn't do my job for peanuts just to satisfy someone who thought I did it well.....

Hey - I'll take a lot of the darts being thrown at me, but don't make me laugh about the US hockey team!

Latvia - tie, and a 4-1 win over powerhouse Kazakhstan... hmmm.... the US will finish out of the medals.

Peace to all - I deserve much of this I guess, but I can't let the hockey barb slide.

Hey Eric, put that (virtual) chair down , the (virtual) bartender just popped up from behind the (virtual) bar and clonked someone with a (virtual) bottle. Shit , some guy just went straight thru the (virtual) window!

Dear Disgruntled of Canada, we welcome you with open arms . If you have any outside chance of getting Pogues tickets for NYC or other U.S. shows you should move heaven and earth to get there - you won't be disappointed. Good luck.

i think people are taking for granted that pogues are EVEN still together & playing shows, or alive in some cases (no disrespect). i'm just surprised the band is even doing gigs outside the UK after all these years. "play this city, play that city." it's miracle the band is still around and wants to play music.

basically what i'm trying to say is, take what you can get. if they aren't playing a town, city or pub, etc. near you. travel to go see them. that's what i did, and lucky enough that they are playing nyc now.

sorry, just cranky from work.. :?

And once youve caught one gig you have to catch another, its like an addiction for me. I live in Birmingham and since the first reunion have been to see them all over england, scotland and in Dublin and yes i am going to New York and no i dont have bags of cash to throw around. Just sometimes you have to go for it. you're a long time dead afterall. I have had some fantastic nights in small venues with Shane and the popes but the Pogues blow them away every time and i for one am grateful for any chance to spend a few hours with the greatest live band in the world bar none. Canadian boy break the bank for it mate while its still possable

Indeed, indeed! A few short years ago, who would have thought we'd ever see the Pogues play again, anywhere, under any circumstances? That it would become a new tradition, a pretty-much-annual event? And that the shows would be greater than ever, with everyone on top of their game?

And who would have thought, as recently as this past fall, that we'd EVER see them back in the USA??

Yes, it's a drag that there are still lots of places they don't seem to be playing, a well-known drag (sorry, involuntary Beatles reference). But each year, another place gets added; who knows what will happen next? In the meantime, if it's at all within your ability, GO SEE THEM WHEREVER YOU CAN!!! Believe me, it's worth whatever difficulty, cost, etc, you encounter.

And for heaven's sake, don't begrudge the band's right (and need!) to make a living. It's not as if they're raking in huge mega-bucks on these tours. Thank goodness they do well enough to make it worth their while - may it always be so!

This is the way I see it. We all should be lucky, especially in eastern canada that we can see the pogues in NYC (like me:)) or boston. Everyone needs to stop whining because the pogues could very well not be touring at all. Count you blessings and see them where you can and stop being pissed that they aren't coming to your piece of the world!
My 2 cents, cheers

Dude - I'm from Australia - how do you think I feel! I'm going to assume (or perhaps live in hope;) ) they'll play somewhere again later this year and fly there to see them! USA is fucking close to you mate - if The Pogues were playing in, say, New Zealand, I'd fly there in a second to see them!

I'm not being a smart-ass here, seriously. But..I am not rolling in the old cash right now. Doodling for a (ha-ha) living doesn't pay well. But, I have taken the old....bus, yes I said it, to Toronto several times. (LOVE Toronto, by the way). It takes several hours, but economically better than a plane. Make a quest out of it, bus it to Boston or NYC, if personal obligations permit. You know as a fan it will be worth it.

P.S. I do apologize for the horrendous grammar and punctuation. But...
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?
