The Setlist

Post Thu Feb 09, 2006 5:34 pm

OK, I'm a long-time Pogues fan, but never seen 'em--I'm finally going to my first Pogues show on 19 March! For those of you who've seen 'em in the past, what did the setlist look like? I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. Can anyone recall? Thanks.

I hope they'll continue mixing the setlists up. Especially when they're playing multiple shows in one city.
Does anyone think we'll get any 'new' songs in the US?

Me too. And if by "new" you mean something that wasn't played on the Xmas tour, I think they will.... but I have nothing to base that on.

Ah, thanks for that orrok61. Obviously, I missed that thread. Is it fair to assume that this is, more-or-less, what we can expect to hear in NYC, or does the band typically mix it up from show to show?

Ooo. No, "A Pair Of Brown Eyes"?! I might weep openly if they don't play that one. But then, if they DO play it, I'm sure to weep openly. So, I guess I'll be weepin' either way then. Someone get me a pint.

I think it's usually handwritten with a thickish black marker on a piece of paper 'bout 8.5 x 11 inches, and then it's photocopied. Sometimes it's got strips o' tape 'round the edges.

I've got to say, since its the first time many americans will be seeing them, eliminating such songs like brown eyes or soho may incite pandemonium.....

Is it not uncommon for them to leave such crowd favorites as Brown Eyes and Soho off the setlist?

I was just now considering posting up a selfish "My personal favorites" topic, listing which songs that I'd love to hear live. The slow ones specifically would be A Pair of Brown Eyes and I'm a Man You don't Meet Everyday. I'm guessing that they might not play the latter, as I suspect that they don't have an uillian pipes player on their concert tours, and it might have an altogether different effect without a breathy female singer. However, A Pair of Brown Eyes could should would be hoped for. Moreso thansoho. :)
