Live at Brixton Academy 2001 CD

Post Fri Jan 20, 2006 10:05 am

This CD hasn't left my player since the recent Christmas shows. It's an amazing recording, and I think I now almost prefer some of the live tracks to the original versions.

Standout tracks for me are the awesome rendition of Rainy Night in Soho, Terry's Young Ned of the Hill (love James' manic accordian playing toward the end), the audience singalong at the start of Dirty Old Town and Phil's passionate singing on Thousands Are Sailing. Just wonderful.

It has a strange and wonderful effect, that live CD. It makes you madly happy. Like some mood-enhancing drug, but without the nasty after-effects...

Couldn't agree more. The audience sing along on Fairytale as well never fails to put a smile on my face. I think that CD is permanently embedded in my car player. It's never seen the sun.
