Live Concert Recordings/ bootlegs

Post Thu Dec 29, 2005 11:45 am

Before going to see The Pogues I went to see The Levellers @ M/chester Acd. This gig was recorded by concert live and available to buy offically c10mins after the gig ended or or by http://www.concertlive.co.uk mail order post .As indeed was all the gigs on this tour and some of the other accoustic gigs before. Although I have no idea who concert live are or how it works with regards royalties/copyrights I think this is a great idea. I am sure most people own at least one bootleg recording of a gig. Often these change hands for silly money & sound quality varies.

Would it not be a great idea if The Pogues gigs would be able to buy like this .Cut out the money making bootlegers and get some money back to the band /tour crew.
Maybe an idea for the USA tour

That's a nice idea I know that Peter Gabriel and a lot of other bands have done it in USA. Nice to see that they are doing it in Great Britain also :)

Better sound and a nice thing to buy if you liked the show you just have been to.
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior and shove you in the ground. But you'll stick your head back out and shout "We'll have another round"

As a fan of the crazy live souvenirs, I definately like the idea, specially if you only want a certain copy of a show you attended.
But crazy folks like us, would want to have every show availble...that scares me ...£14.99

Philip answered this somewhere. He said a band that had taken 20 years to find a live recording they all liked (live at brixton '01) were unlikely to make every gig available.

Maybe Philip has forgotten, but this is something that the band discussed in depth and although we didn't do it then there is no reason it won't be reconsidered in the future.

Well, we'll just keep our fingers crossed then. :) And if I remember, Phillip was talking about releasing a new album, not releasing live material in ths way. :? Maybe someone else remembers more clearly than I.
