have seen all reunion tours and DKM is the best supportact so far

Went to see them in 1992 (ok things may have changed) but I could not feel any happiness in the crowd at the front of the stage. All the fans seemed really anal which was a shame becasue before they went mainstream some of their tracks were ok.

I would prefer to see some trad irish kaylee or similar to set the pogues up prior to a proper blast from the past to the majority of Red Roses. Pure bliss

This Reunion tour with DKM as a warmup was perfect and I hope that we can see some great supportacts next year

I would like to see The Tossers open up - I saw them play with Spider a few years ago and they put on a really good show... It might sound too much like The Pogues, but who knows - at least they can all play really well...

I dont think these two would fit together. DKM is a much better choice. FM has a couple of good songs per record and the rest is actually quite shite. They don´t have the ´honesty´ of the Pogues, though they are a very very good and energetic live band.

Not sure what you mean about "honesty." I like them, and get the impression that Dave King is just singing his life/thoughts and having a good time. People tend to hold them up to the Pogues because of the Irish element. I like them. Seen them three times.... crowd goes nuts. That said, I'd rather not see them open for the Pogues.... and at least on the US tour that will not be possible, as they are playing a tour of their own on the West Coast at that time. They are coming through this side of the US a few weeks before the Pogues, though. I'll be interested in who opens for them before getting tickets. I'm inclined not to go, but they usually have great opening bands and their choice might sway me into going.

No, a re-formed Specials. But give 'em all a kick in the balls 10 seconds prior to taking the stage.

Honestly though, now that i know DJ Scratchy has been opening the shows in The UK, i'd love to just have him doing what he does. then have ronnie drew come out and sing a solo vocal and introduce the pogues.

anyway, it sounds like we don't have a real say in this. and from spider's lament about the sawdoctors, it sounds like they don't either. so here's crossing my fingers that st. paddy's in times square = truly special occasion.

Agh - you know, fuck that. I was lucky enough to see Joe Strummer at the Troubadour here in LA shortly before his death. His only opening act that night was a group of young Hispanic guys called Slowrider. i'd never heard of them. they were huddled down the front of the stage playing traditional canciones with squeezeboxes, cheese graters and cowbell. I couldn't make out a word of the Spanish, but it still spoke to me and most people there and set a standard for Joe to live up to in the 'honest and energetic musical expression' department (which he did, to an amazing degree).

i'll always remember that night: surprised and thrilled. but you can't plan for that or count on it. it just happens. and i hope it happens in march.
