greggk wrote:that sad part is their are literally hundreds of great beers made in americas by small brewers and the beers are usually only available locally.

For instance, brooklyn brewery puts out some great beer, not just their lager but thier pennent ale and lots of other varieties.

Victory brewers down in philly, flying fish in camden, Saranac in upstate nyc etc etc

look for their beers when you get here

Dogfish Head Brewery... Old Dominion Brewery .... New Belgium .... there is absolutely no reason to worry. In my local super markets I get Belgian and Scottish ales, British ales, German ales and lagers, and American micro-brews from all over the US... plus various beers from all over the world. If anything, I have been over inundated by good beer. A problem eclipsed only by being overinundated by Islay single malt whisky. As you can see, I have had the deck stacked against me.

I was just checking out the http://www.murphyguide.com site and if you check out the St. Patricks Day Events, they have a listing of musicians at various pubs/venues for the entire month.

beer

Post Wed Mar 08, 2006 9:47 am

beer?
the american piss we serve as beer here is different then the american piss in europe. the taste is different, by alot. thus vice versa,
guinness here is nothing like guinness in ireland.
guinness here in the u.s.a is like guinness in canada..because thats where its made! and in africa the guinness is about 8% and sweet as a hell.
its all about marketing, trust me brooklynn brewery will eventually be bought out by miller or bud and then they will explode in the market.
enough, i just took work home,
what ever your pleasure is enjoy it!
cheers,
C.

Like making love in a canoe......why? 'Cause it's f**king close to water

Besides, even the best beers/ales etc are but the fermented first-stage byproduct of the grand alchemical marriage that is whiskey-making. Beer, pah! 'tis a drink fit fer nursing infants or geriatrics in their doddering dotage. Like me.

for all those stressing on staying close to times square are wasting your money

Times square sucks...try to find a place in chelsea or the village ifyou can find someplace nice. Manhattan has big buildings but its easy to figure out and nothing is really a long trip....

but i said it once and ill say it again. GO TO THE PARLOUR for st pattys day

Good spot alright, and home to the New York Celtic Supporters Club, hundred's of whom will be marching in the parade, so it will be mental in there, and you'll probably bump into the Dublin Fire Brigade! :D

Probably Ear Inn Thursday until son gets out of work then would like to head to Rocky Sullivans. Trying to talk husband into going Thursday night and Friday early evening before show. Would not seem like St. Pattys Day without being there! It is small but I love that place. Saturday we are meeting up with niece and nephew we have not seen for a few years, have no clue what we are doing with them.

Weather

Post Fri Mar 10, 2006 2:50 pm

Was just checking the weather forcast - Looks like it will be a cold parade. High 40's. Burr. Probably will have to hit the bars a little earlier than anticipated. That's too bad!
