alright guys here it goes.....I am somewhat cautious about lettting this info out because I dont want to blow up a good spot but screw connolys on St pattys days

There is one place to go and and place to go only. Head up to 86th to go to the Parlour for prepogues festivities.

This is a CelticFC bar, fans fly from Ireland and Scotland to celebrate St. Patricks day in NYC and go to this bar. Thus, not a bunch of green beer drinking loud mouths in suits. They fly in a band from ireland to play lots of song including many celtic songs. It always a good time its two floors so it gets packed but not too packed. Its up on 86th street so it keeps away a lot of the people you dont want around. its a safe neighborhood a block away from the subway to times square and its an amazing time.

I have spent my last to St. Patricks days here and I plan to do the same this year. They serve food and if you get in around 1pm you can get a good burger to soak up all the beer.
The crowd starts to grow around 3 and the bound goes on at about 4 or 5.

screw connolys and although rocky sullivans is an amazing pub, I would never go there on the 17th because it is so small

Anyways, someone has probably mentioned this elsewhere on the site about the Nokia Theater, but i thought it would repeat

7$ for a guinness(and some other beers like amstel which are irrelevant)
$6 for a bud
$9 for a jack and coke.
$3 for coat check

impeccably clean bathrooms, and a concert floor you could practically eat off of before the show

The concert hall is set up as follows:
there's a 5foot highstage, then a 4 foot deep trench for security to catch crowdsurfers, then a 5foot high barricade.
Then, the main standing area which is somethinglike 40ft deep,
Then theres a secondlevel, raised up 4 feet, and about 30feet deep of standing room
Then there's the 3rd level back which is seating going up at a 45 degree angle. ballpark 150-200 seats. don't know if they're comfortable
there's also some raised areas to the sides of the main standing area

hope this information is useful. apologies for not doing this is in metric units

Thanks!! :D

Again, if you want to have a good time dont go to any bars close to the nokia. Its going to be a bunch of stupid tourists and buisness men drinking green beer and acting like assholes. Trust me...go to the parlour and just catch a cab or subway down to the show. Im sure plenty of people that will be there are going to the show too so you can find someone there and they can show you how.

yeah, shocked at bud, in addition to the multitude of other awful american beers i saw when I was in Ireland. There were enough that you can't chalk them up as being available only for American tourists, the irish must enjoy them also. Don't know what the situation is like in the Netherlands.

While were on the subject Stella Artois is huge in nyc now. Its sold has kind of a high end pilsner. I have heard its considered piss in belgium. Is this accurate?

It's probably already been mentioned, but my usual route (and maybe the cheapest) of getting into the city (from LaGuardia) is to take the M60 bus from LaGuardia to 125th street and then catching the 6 train downtown.

Total Cost: $2

I usually stay on the Lower East Side, and that's how I get there..

This is is really a pretty nice place. The food is not bad either and the prices are not as high as some in the area. There is also a decent little Italian place almost next door.

As far as I know, Budweiser is the best selling beer in this country.

I'd well believe it, the shocking piss that it is. Miller is widely available also. Not a fan of either.

that sad part is their are literally hundreds of great beers made in americas by small brewers and the beers are usually only available locally.

For instance, brooklyn brewery puts out some great beer, not just their lager but thier pennent ale and lots of other varieties.

Victory brewers down in philly, flying fish in camden, Saranac in upstate nyc etc etc

look for their beers when you get here
