I have no answer at the moment. First, Serbia must ask us.

Yeah, that would be great. After several weeks of arguing with my wife, I decided to retreat and not to go to the Brixton gigs this year, because she was unhappy to see I was spending again 1.000 Euros (plane, tickets, hotel, etc) for 4 days in London like on last year Pogues gigs. We found middle solution - we'll be going together to Budapest or Vienna if Pogues play European tour or gig somewhere near. Peace at home.

But Belgrade gig will solve everything. Crowd of 20.000 in Belgrade Arena, with proper advertising, is almost guaranteed. Although that venue is expensive. Belgrade Hala Sportova with 7.000 like on Blondie and Stranglers also would be fine. SKC is to small with maximum of 1.700 on Exploited gig last month. And, on the end, the Exit Festival in Novi Sad with 15.000-20.000 is also possible (50 minutes of driving from Belgrade).

Belgrade is waiting Pogues from 1988, but 2006 is not late at all for Balkan safehaven of all fast-rocking musics: Hard Rock, Metal and Punk. Belgrade City - Hard Rock City.

Dobro Vece, Irish Rover

The "Exit 2003" was in Novi Sad, wasn't it?

My wife's from Backi Breg so I know at least parts of Serbia. As far as I can see the Pogues seem to be pretty popular down there. I've hear a version of "Dirty old Town" on the radio - half Serbocroatian, half English. Do you, by any chance, know who may have recorded that?

Dobro vece Eckhard :D
Yes,EXIT takes place in Novi Sad every year and it was loike that in 2003. as well! Its getting bigger and bigger every year...its becoming one of the greatest music festivals in Europe.
The website of festival is http://eng.exitfest.org/
Here is the announcement for 2006.

Exit 06 From July 6th to July 9th at Petrovaradin Fortress
Next year in July, in Novi Sad at Petrovaradin Fortress, Exit 06 festival will be held. After a huge success of Exit 05, which was visited by 150,000 people, out of which 15,000 were foreigners, there is no reason to change direction. Exit 06 will last for four days, from 6th to 9th of July in 2006. Even though there are some ongoing negotiations with bands, it is still too soon to announce bigger names for next year.

Oi'm glad to hear your wife is from Serbia and that you know pretty much of Serbia.Pogues are popular by all means in Serbia...there is a huge crowd of people who listen Irish music here and there are several domestic bands as well who play Irish music so you could probably hear one of them.Btw,
I'm creating band of me own...Irish Rover and The Crew...this week we should start practise and it will be tribute band for Shane MacGowan 8)

Oi'm sure that Pogues gig in Serbia would be a great success!

The Observer: “Exit the Best Festival in the World”

The distinguished weekly magazine The Observer in its latest edition recommends Exit as the best festival in the world. In the article “Top 25 Travel Experiences”, Annie Mac from BBC Radio 1, was quoted: 'The setting is spectacular, the line-up massive and the people completely inspiring. It's a truly special festival.'
The author of the text, Sarah Turner says that Exit will fill in the void left behind the fact, that Glastonbury, the biggest UK festival, will not be held this year. It is also said that Exit is a result of student protest against Milosevic’s regime, as well as the tickets and beer are cheap.

The Observer is published in 440,000 copies, and each copy is read by approximately 1,160,000 Britons.
The web edition of The Observer is a part of the web site of Guardian newspaper, and is greatly appreciated and received many British and other rewards.

The paper has gone downhill a bit but I'm always impressed by the fact that they already reported on the French Revolution. Exit festival is in good company.

Good lord. So the total publishing run is read by ... 510,400,000,000 Britons? That's 510.4 Billion Britons. 5.104e11 Britons. How many Britons are there? That's got to be one damned crowded island.
