Went to the Pogues /Chieftens show at Brixton academy in 1991 ,easily best Pogues gig ever ,but Glasgow Barrowland has to be the best venue // also attended gigs in Edinburgh and Manchester .

Yes, but it also has seats. Lots and lots and lots and lots of seats. And the management has an unhealthy regard for the welfare of the seats.

We played the Hammersmith Apollo (or Odeon as it was then) in, I think, 1986 or so. We didn't like it much and neither did the fans.

Doesn't the Brixton Academy have toilets anymore?

Has to be the MEN Arena ! The ability to watch the band from 500m away, not get to the bar makes this the best venue ! (Durrr)

The Pogues/Chieftains gig was without doubt the GREATEST show ever. Never seen anything like it, before or since.

My favourite Pogues venue was probaby the old Hammersmith Palais. Saw them a few times there. They played St Patricks and the 18th in March 1986 (still have the bootlegs crowd singing brillantly) both nights were unforgettable and again I think in Dec 87.

The sprung floor bounced away like nothing before.

Other venues over the years were the Mean Fiddler, Harlesden and Brixton

By the way Hammy Odeon now has the seats taken out unlike the old days of seating

Barrowlands by a mile..ask Spider...he was forever saying it was the best venue for a gig.
Brixton is excellent as well though.
