DKM wrote:Paddy Rolling Clone, Murphy's version of Auld Triangle is good. Yes, it's different, and yes, I was unsure about it at first, but it really is sound. Also, the sets on the Pogues tour seem to be much more centered around the traditional stuff, in order to appeal to the Pogues fans, and there's every chance of that being the same in Dublin.

I'm with Paddy on this one... I don't care for most of the DKM (who I love) remakes of the traditional tunes. And I would have thought they would stay away from such songs for the same reason as Paddy, but it sounds like we were both wrong. Takes guts. Almost as much as The Real McKenzies playing in Glasgow and mispronouncing "Celtic" (or so I read).

Whether you like the arrangements of DKM's trad tunes--I'm ok on some and not sold on others--they are pretty solid picks.

What really surprises me is that with all the great trad numbers out there they would go with Courtin in the Kitchen on Warrior's Code. A very weak choice in my opinion.

Not sure where to find it on the net, but it's definitely the song. DKM have been using it on and off to open shows over the last few years. Fantastic number.

I cant believe that no ones mentioned (unless I've missed it) that the Murphys covered 'Vengeance' by the Nips at the Cardiff show! Have they done this at any of the other shows? I thought it was a great gesture to Shane.

Ok I've just seen that someone has mentioned it, apologies! Just thought it might have got more coverage!

hope there's lots of dropkicks fans in the pit at the dublin show dancing. i haven't the slightest bit of interest in anything they've recorded since 2001 but i always have fun at their shows. seeing as the last dublin show was big and sold out i'm hoping for a good atmosphere friday!

seen the DKM at both glasgow shows really liked their traditional takes but wasn't keen on the more hard core punk stuff/ also like the intro music which went on for about 8 mins , they also used this at the Gasgow garage show in June 2004 ,.at the time I thought it sounded like a Cla'nned song definately worth trying to find / check out official DKM website for intro music// DKM show was moved to the Garage from the Barrowland because Bob Dylan booked the Barrowland the venue to play the following night as a second concert following his concert at the SECC /Barrowland is a 2000 capacity venue/ I think the Garage is about 800+/ the concert was one of the busiest I have ever attended ,but tickets were still available at the door so possible good move on the Dropkicks part /// encore that night also included a note for note but brilliant version of the WHO's Babe O' Rielly///// What about a Dropkick Murphy / Flogging Molly double header // how brilliant would that be / BUT WHAT IS THAT INTRO MUSIC
