Is Shane Coherent Enough to Perform?

Post Thu Dec 08, 2005 1:35 pm

I'm getting ready to pickup tix for the DC show and was wondering if anyone has seen them perform lately.

Does Shane even make it through the entire show?

If the Shane MacGowan Story was any indication of his physical condition I'll be surprised if he even makes it to the states for these shows.

I have a funny feeling that I'll be getting my $$ refunded after the gig is canceled.
Wondering?

Having heard the Guilford show from earlier this year, and seen the comments from fans who saw the Japan and Spain shows, I'd say your money was well-spent - you won't be looking for a refund. :)

Shane

If it was Shane and the Popes a refund would be nailed on but the Pogues is a different story. I'm not sure if its different management or that there's more money involved for Shane but he's not let the punters down yet.

A LOT more money I'd imagine. People really should look around recent threads before posting. I've seen this question asked loads of times. :!:

Dude, why should I spend time looking thru old threads when I can just ask the question and get an immediate answer? If you don't wish to reply, then don't, plain and simple.

Everyone else, thanks for your responses.

Not to be missed

Post Fri Dec 16, 2005 2:24 pm

I have seen the Pogues or Shane about 7 times, and each time he was hanging onto the mic stand and swaying. I looked and was convinced he'd drop right there. Never happened. Each and every time he put on the show and left you wanting more. Once, he sang the Waltzing Matilda in Boston and stopped swaying and had the place dead quiet save for the music. DO NOT WORRY about Shane, just enjoy the show, which will be, I predict, phenomenal.

I've seen the Pogues and Shane./popes over 20 times over the last twenty years most times absolutely brilliant /even on not so good nights , the worste concert of all time ,for me was shane and the popes at the Glasgow Fruit Market in January 2003 alf the band were missing ,Shane sat in achair for all of the set , The concert was due to start at around 9 PM , shane came on at around some time after midnight and was totally incoherent and rambling /// no tin whistle /accordian /violin/ banjo ,all the things that enhance Shane's brilliant songs, the audiance who were absolutely blootered by the time shane came on went ecstactically mental/ me included / but in the cold light of day it wasn't good, Shane needs a good band, wether its the popes or the pogues, who knows ?my personal preference is the pogues , having seen loads of brilliant gigs with the popes / but Shane sitting in a chair rambling away is not good night out ///Hope you reply to this posting ,, wishing all the best ,regardless of your view

I posted earlier to this thread that your money would be well spent. Having seen the two Glasgow shows, I'm now sure of it. March is looking to be wonderful!
