Boston

Post Sat Nov 26, 2005 6:49 pm

So I guess it might be a good idea for the POGUES USA 2006 thread to split up into the various shows so here's one for Boston. I'm going to be flying from Portland, OR for this show, anybody else making a big trek?

Where y'all thinking of getting tickets?

I stole this picture from some ticket site, any suggestions?

I love the Orpheum Circuit - one of the original US Vaudeville big time routes. My great-grandmother Grace sang operatic arias on the Orpheum and Keith-Albee Circuits.

I just posted this in the other thread - just to keep you posted:

Still no word on Boston tickets. Ticketmaster has nothing listed, and I called the Orpheum box office which gave me a recording of all upcoming events - the gig was not on there.

Hello Nate,

I'm from Quebec City, Canada, and I'm going to the gig in Boston (It's only a 6 hour drive).

I don't know Boston at all though. Do you?
I'm looking for a cheap place to sleep... and how to get there by car (and where to park it)

Anyone can help?

Thanks!

I'm making plans to drive from Halifax, NS, Canada, to Boston for this show. mapquest calls it a 10.53 or so hour drive.

I've been to Boston once and really liked it. I got to where I wanted to go, accidentally. I was in a tunnel and the car overheated, and it was really hot, so I cooled the engine by running the heat which made the heat even worse.

When I was driving and saw I was headed for another tunnel, I veered to the left through some scaffolding (Big Dig), and there I was, right where I needed to be. We ended up within easy walking distance to Quincy Square, Bull and Finch etc etc. at some underground parking garage with whatlooked like a park over top of it.

Thats was the garage under the Boston Common - probably the best place to park for an Orpheum show. Its a 4 minute walk to the venue.

Hey Charlie,

That's cool, I know Howie's very well. I used to go there all the time when I lived out on outer Washington, in North Deering.

To answer your question, we play pretty much all over the place as far as New England is concerned - Boston, Portsmouth, Connecticut, you name it. When we play here in town, we usually do The Alehouse, Geno's or Brian Boru.

I saw the Pogues play at the Orpheum in the past. Actually Shane was not a part of one of the shows. The late great Joe Strummer belted out most of the tunes.

The Orpheum although very old and rickety is a great place to see and hear a show. There are some obstructed view seats though so be careful.

I just want to get in. Doesn't matter where i sit.
