I enjoy the home made beers alot too. We have this place where I live that serves "2 guns beer" which is about 12% alcohol and tastes a bit like cider. Needless to say, it doesn't take much to get "2-gunned" (as we like to call it) in one sitting.

By the way, all this talk of "Oyster Stout" got me wondering: Is Dublin big on seafood by any chance??

Dublin has always been a great centre for seafood, as Molly Malone knew. Alas, there are those who consider the leaks from the neighbouring Sellafield Nuclear station a risk not worth taking.

My parents ran a joint in Wexford Street, Dublin in the early 1960s called Ryan's Irish Restaurant. On the menu was Dublin Bay Prawns, Oysters cooked in Guinness, drisheen, crubeens, mutton stew, coddle and other traditional delicacies not seen since Leopold Bloom last had breakfast. It failed - out of tourist season, local patrons saw no reason to go out to eat something they could have anytime at home.

Rather unfortunate though, being a big fan of seafood this complicates things a tad. Clearly there are pros (seafood! ) and cons (...dipped in radiation ) to be considered. Really too bad about the potential risks caused by nuclear pollution, guess i'll take er easy just to be safe.

Oysters sound great! Definitely would have spent a bit of time there if it was still around.

I had my fish and chips there ofthen when I lived just across St. Patricks' Cathedral and I'm still alive so it isn't that bad.

And loads of 'famous' people have had their chips there but also loads of not so famous people. I always liked the sight there around eleven at night

theres a local pub along the quays....right before you get to the point....forget the name....pretty decent pint and always full of pre-point gig heads...would be the best bet

Wouldnt mind a place with a bit of trad music. I'd know my way around the city centre but never really pubbed it. Should be able to get to Dub in time for a few pints.
