support

Post Fri Nov 25, 2005 3:25 pm

The last time I got to a gig early to see the support was 1984 at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester to see The Pogues supporting Elvis Costello and the Attractions. They came on stage and someone said "Good evening we're Pogue Mahone" and someone else said "No we're not we're The Pogues". To cut a long story short are the Dropkick Murphys worth it or should I stay in the Canterbury Arms till 5 to 9 playing Pogues on the juke box?

No way! You can play the canterberrys jukebox over and over! Go and see the Dropkicks and have your own opinion on them.

Well I'm pretty curious if Shane will join them for Good Rats so I'll definitely have a peak

I hope you will have a "peak" only when the Pogues come onstage. Otherwise their performance would have to be a decline... ;)

The first comment was just my opinion, said jokingly. I do think people are entitled to their own opinions.

i saw Dropkicks at Reading Festival this year but didn't really like 'em . Despite being in a state in which most musical accompaniment would have been welcome . Sorry .

dropkick murphys are a great band and fun to see live. i'm sure they will be even better live since they are supporting the pogues. i've seen them live like, 8 times or so now and they never disappoint. but if punk rock isn't your thing, than you might not like them. but give them a shot.

I know this is one hell of a long shot, but I haven't seen any definite confirmation on the support acts for the Boston show yet, and I thought I might try to get my band on the bill (we're pretty well established and, let's face it, would probably auction off our mothers and trample any given number of old ladies for a chance to play with the Pogues). Anyone have any idea at all who I would contact regarding this?
Cheers,
Andy
