But maybe Abominable is REALLY a great singer/raconteur who knows HOW to perform at yer best with a mouth full of no teeth, a head full of rosé and a room full of screaming fans. No? What a surprise. SIOS LEIS NA BEGRUDGERS!

Sunday tix available

Post Wed Mar 15, 2006 8:43 pm

FYI, there appear to be some tickets available on ticketmaster for the Sunday 3/19 show. I just got some, and will be heading up from DC Sunday afternoon.

Look down the "Live Shows" thread listing and you'll find one that's titled "POGUES SHOWTIMES." Somewhere within the first post o' that thread, you will find your answer. :)

Crap, I'm tying this but can't get past the "word verification". I've tried 3 different browsers including Firefox and the verification image refuses to load.

I may be totally wrong about this, but check to see if your browser is set to refuse "cookies" from Ticketmaster. I ran into the same problem the last time I tried buying tix from them, but as soon as I allowed the "cookies", the word verification code became visible.

well, i have been reading this forum for about two months now biding the time until this day. i'm computer illiterate and don't know how to 'chat' on this thing. but it's st. patty's day, i've got 'red roses for me' blasting, i'm about to head out to calvary cemetery in queens to pay some respects, hit the parade, some bars, and then THE show. it's pretty fucking hard to contain myself at this point, and would like to thank all those who have shared their thoughts over the past couple of months....,
it'll be almost 18 years to the day since my first pogues show and look forward to sharing the day with all of you......

I think it's been 16 years since I've seen them. I remember seeing The Pogues on the Pier in New York, with Mojo Nixon and The Violent Femmes (!). I'm not sure of the date (1990?), but I remember Joe Strummer was with them, but NOT on vocals.

Mr. Chevron, I want to thank you for a wonderful show in AC last Saturday. I really thought, with all I've read of your lead singer, that you'd never perform live again (at least not as an intact unit). I was soooo excited to see you back around (and with Shane, no less!). And the theatre at the Borgata seemed great to me (very spacious, friendly, etc.). Your instrumentals were fantastic, and Mr. MacGowan managed to stay vertical all night (something many of my friends were questioning). Occasionally his vocals seemed rather forced, but you all ("the band") saved the performance by having tons of energy yourselves. And I loved Mr. Finer's daughter singing "Fairytale of New York." Her dance with Mr. MacGowan after it was touching (as was the snow...).

I'm glad I got to see you one more time, and hopefully you'll make it back here again. Now I'm now going back to my records (remember those?) and I'm gonna play some of your tracks I'd forgotten....

Good luck on your New York dates (I wish I could be there!!)!

No show. At least as of 3AM... Might have showed up after that, but I doubt it.. I took off after I heard the promoter asking someone on the phone where he was.. That was around 3.
