This is not in question, the record will be, as previously announced, our 1987 recording with La Kirsty.

Where it gets murkier is in the business of special one-off download versions which Warners want to make available.

Hi folks I posted that .... In last weeks ES magazine, it said a series of guests will be singing Fairytale LIVE with the band this Xmas. I think Mr C has said the same somewhere here? Along with pics of Shane and Kate, it said Moss has been asked to do one of the nights and 'she would love to, schedule permitting.' She did a great version of Some Velvet Morning with Primal Scream so could be good ... if true / it actually happens

My guess is contactmusic misread the article and thought it was a new studio version.cm

Just reread my orig post -- can see how unclear I was being! I meant that Moss singing live with the band would generate lots of press which would in turn help sales of the Pogues & Kirsty version appearing soon in the shops.phew. cm

From Evening Standard ES magazine, 18 Nov '05

KATE, LEADER OF THE BAND

by Sebastian Shakespeare

Kate Moss is set to sing the female vocals on the Pogues' Christmas classic 'Fairytale Of New York', alongside ubiquitous former frontman Shane MacGowan. The supermodel, who has previously sung with her on-off paramour Pete Doherty, would love to do it, fashion contracts, rehab and time permitting. The song will raise money for the 'Justice fof Kirsty Campaign', in honour of singer Kirsty MacColl who was killed by a powerboat in Mexico five years ago. Others include MacGowan's fiery writer girlfriend Victoria Clarke.

seems to be some confusion over whether this is live on stage or for a release - or both.

on the Hello magazine link it says

"Supermodel Kate Moss could top the charts over the festive season if the public take to her efforts in the recording studio. The beauty is to duet with The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan for a new recording of classic Christmas song Fairytale In New York."

so does this mean that there is going to be another release of FTONY???
