Hyde Park

Post Tue Jun 24, 2014 2:44 pm

I'm coming all the way from Nashville all by myself to see The Pogues at Hyde Park on July 5th. I'd love to make some new friends to go to the concert with and, perhaps, get a non-tourist guide through London. Any takers?

I've met the best of friends through meet ups and going to gigs. I'd love to make it over for this gig but alas it's not too be. I've had fantastic adventures meeting up with like minded Pogues fans and I'm sure you will too. Unfortunately this raft is a lot quieter but I hope you meet up with a few pogueheads and have a ball. :-)

Me and my good lady will be in The Ship, Wardour Street for a pre-Pogues pint or two from around three o'clock. I'll be the one in the Pogues t-shirt....

I will be at the Hyde Park show with my family. We will stop by a pub first if we can all agree on one to meet in. Also, Shane plays a charity gig the next evening for Paul MAD DOG McGuinness. I will be there as well-

Never knew about Mad dog, me and Mrs Moose spoke to him once at a Popes gig in Cambridge, Shane was singing with them at the time, we bumped into him outside the venue, it was around 9pm and I asked him if Shane would show up, he looked me in the eye and said, "Don't worry he'll be here" and true enough he was!
All the best Mad dog.

We were at that Popes gig too. Apparently there was supposed to be a support act but they didn't turn up, and by 9pm the crowd inside was getting a bit restless at the lack of any sign of Shane or anything much happening. But yes, sure enough, Shane did turn up, and it was a cracking good gig.

Exactly. That's why it's quieter.

Good show at Hyde Park. Shane looked a bit tired at first but came around well and a good time was had. Setlist to come.

No, Shane hardly spoke at all and the rest of The group mostly gave announcements etc. Surprise song were Streets of Sorrow/Birmingham Six.

I imagine that those songs would have been performed as a tribute to Gerry Conlon, who died a couple of weeks ago.

They did the same at the Bristol gig: http://www.pogues.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2053&p=221241#p221241
