Small world! My dad is from Flat Rock, I've lots of family there and in Torbay! I've been waiting to see the Pogues for most of my life, but I believe the chances of them coming to Canada ever again are getting slim to nil.

Epic! Good on ya!

If you keep your eyes open you may run into Den Ekster, Villa John, Wittonworrier, Toonboy and others! A good-hearted group, the lot of 'em.

Other options depending on where you're travelling from is possibly decamp in Norwich then catch a train to Thetford or Brandon and get a taxi from the station (if possible) to the venue.

There will still be road works on the A11 upgrade so if travelling by car give yourself extra time.

We drove up that way last night. A11 roadworks are likely to be a problem if you're coming from Norwich direction, but shouldn't affect road journeys coming from the south or west.

After much consideration, I have decided once again to give the Summer gigs a miss. :(

For one, I've just bought a fantastic new laptop so I will be spending the summer trying to pay my credit card off for that and other things I've bought that have overstretched the budget slightly too much. Of course there are other factors involved in me not going other than cash, travel, accommodation etc.

However I have been having visions of the meet up at Thetford and trying to find the dude they call Firehazard. As I know his real name, I would be asking everyone in a wheelchair if they were Firehazard and no doubt as his real name is quite common there will probably be another dude in a wheelchair with that name who would wonder who this mad Scouse woman who had latched herself onto him was. :?

I guess its called getting old (er) but I'm just not into these outdoor/tented or festival Pogues gigs anywhere near as much and I have now been to quite a lot of them. Give me Melkweg, Drammen, Brixton or Manchester crowded into a dark hall anyday, where the atmosphere is tangible and there just seems to be a better connection between crowd and band. Its a personal thing - I guess I didn't grow up around festivals and the like BUT nevertheless a Pogues gig is a Pogues gig and everytime you don't go to one you wonder if the last one you went to may have been your last - especially now we don't have the heads up on what could be happening live anymore :(
Thetford it is then - be rude not to on my birthday :)

We are indeed legion, Heather. This has caused confusion on various occasions, though never (so far) in conjunction with a Pogues gig. Though there's always a first time...

Hearing rumours of a support slot for the reunited Libertines. Keeping the pinches of salt ready until anything's announced.
